Thank you to Jackie Gotta, of Gotta's Farm!! Jackie donated over 10 flats of annual plantings for the Riverfront Park. The Brownstone Quorum volunteers have started planting these throughout the park.

Yin Yoga at Riverfront Park is back! Beginning Tuesday, May 28 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM join experienced yoga instructor Cyndi Mazzotta for a sunset class by the Connecticut River.

Brownstone Quorum will host its Annual Meeting on Sunday April 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Portland Waverly Senior Center, 7 Waverly Avenue. Officers will be elected, and awards will be presented. Following the meeting, Alain Munkittrick will be presenting "Historic Places & Open Spaces".
Alain's presentation is being co-sponsored with the Portland Historical Society.

Alain Munkittrick's talk, "Historic Places & Open Spaces," will draw from many examples of places in the river's valley, many of which appeared in his recently published book, Historic Houses of the Connecticut River Valley (Arcadia Publishing, 2023). Alain will focus on how the evolution of amalgamated family farmsteads and great landed estates to parklands and preserves have contributed to the nature of our beautiful valley as we enjoy it today. The Connecticut River's edge is remarkably pristine, except where intense industrial development (requiring waterpower), and later highway construction have negatively impacted public access to the river. Open spaces and undeveloped landscapes enhance most of its 400-mile length.

Beautiful picture from our neighbors at Quarry View Historic Park!

Thinking back I was at home safe and dry and it started to rain. I decided to collect my lights, generator and rain gear and head out to capture this shot of the falls at night. It has to rain for the falls to appear so timing is everything.
