I just harvested the first of my Purple Tomatoes! These were created by splicing the purple color genes from snapdragons (edible flowers) with cherry tomatoes. The result is a tomato high in the antioxidant, anthocyanin, which is what makes blueberries not only blue, but very healthy.

So yes, these are GMOs! But don't be nervous, many GMO plants are created to be healthy and sustainable. These seeds took 20 years to develop by Norfolk Plant Sciences, in conjunction with Cambridge University.

This is the first year that seeds were available to the public. They had to be special-ordered, and are pricy for seeds, but worth it for me!

Super important - they taste great - very tomato-y!

The dinner and the kitchen right before we sat down to eat the feast. It's cleaned up already. The trick? Wash and dry as you go and have an empty dishwasher ready for the dinner dishes. Also - lists for everything, especially helpful was a timeline for when to start and take food out of the oven, how long the turkey sits and when to carve it. Another help was setting out serving dishes with their serving spoons/forks in advance with sticky notes telling what went into each one. That way guests can jump right in and be helpful. Large gatherings needn't be painful. We had a great time!
