✨The continues with Stephanie & Michael! In 2019, they booked their Coordination and Design service for a large wedding set for 2020. Unfortunately, we were faced with the unexpected. A pandemic that put restrictions on celebrations and the number of people who could gather.

The pandemic didn’t stop us. We just pivoted our client’s thinking to a trendy way to celebrate - A micro wedding! We adapted to a new date in August 2021 and identified a new location. The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing was a phenomenal venue offering a third story view overlooking the James River and the city skyline in the background.

It was perfect! All of their immediate family was able to celebrate in their wedding.

✨Happy February! Today, we kick off our with 14 love stories featuring our past couples.

First up: The College Sweethearts, Briana & Reese. Their love story began freshman year where the Aggie met the Belle during a group outing. Eventually, they would go on to date throughout their college years. On May 5, 2012, Reese proposed to Briana before a huge audience at her graduation and she happily said “YES!”

On September 1, 2013, the couple wed in North Carolina before a host of family and friends. Their wedding opened the door to an experience for our CEO that ultimately led to the start of Shi Designs & Co., formerly HLS PartiesGalore. Shi served as one of the coordinators for their wedding day and let’s just say, “we did that!”

🎉Happy Wednesday InstaFam!

We are three days into 2024. How’s it going for you??? For us, we felt it would be great to share our story of how Shi Designs all got started!

It all started from my Saturday midday routine in 2003. Every weekend, it would start with a few episodes of and then I would make my way to TLC’s to see the chaos. Fast forward to my Junior Year of High School and I crafted this plan to have a THE BEST designed wall for my Senior Year because we finally had the chance to takeover the marble wall in TeeJay! The dream was cut short when we ran into some challenges due to a series of incidents that led to activities including decorating the marble wall being cancelled 😞.

Anywho, that didn’t stop me from being on the Prom Planning Committee. The theme: A Night in Paris at the Science Museum of Virginia. To see it transformed was a dream. I went off to college that fall with the intention to be a Journalism & Media Studies major only for the planning component of this major. I did not realize the intense writing curriculum that was required and I didn’t want to deal with that so I changed to Business Administration with a concentration in Management major (I’m kinda a numbers girl 😂). Anywho, I had been sharing with my friends the desire to be in business for wedding and event planning and one of my friends gave me the opportunity to co-coordinate her 2013 wedding. I enjoyed the experience and from there the business would be a goal and a dream that unfolded in 2016. I started with the name (HLS being my initials backwards). After a successful, COVID era season, I decided I wanted to rebrand to a more mature name and look. So I renamed my business to (My nickname and the area of focus for my business). Since the rebranding, I’ve had opportunities to coordinate and design for many, freelance with some of my favorite local designers and invested in a Behind The Veil Academy course. We are not where we want to be, but this year, we are heading for it!

🤗Happy Monday Everyone!!! Im sure you all are wondering what’s been going? Where is Shi? Well, to be honest the last few months have been an emotional rollercoaster 🎢 with my life. I was given notice that I would be laid off from a job I loved a lot within 15 days — only for me to be notified that I was being retained. It’s been a lot of long nights at my work to maintain business operations.

In between that time, I’ve done some 💕branding photos and content📸; gotten sick from stress and anxiety; enjoyed some amazing concerts (Ella Mai is a GEM!); been my mother’s caregiver following her surgery; and competing for a less stressful job to getting a NEW job. All while trying to get ready for the Wedding and Event season kickoff.

I guess what I’m here to say is, “I’m back!!!”👊🏾✨🤗
