Hero’s Journey Project: The 7th grade English class explored Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey Archetype through popular movies. Each student watched their movie of choice and aligned events and characters in the movie with the archetype. Then they designed a poster and presented how the hero’s journey appears in their movie! Soon, they’ll be tracking this archetype through The Hobbit.

Science lately…

Biology students have spent several class periods learning how to use microscopes and make wet-mount slides. They made slides of onion cells, algae, and their check cells and hair. They drew pictures of what they saw and identified cell parts such as the nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane.

Physical Science students just finished a unit on the physical states of matter. They did a lab comparing temperature and volume of water at different physical states. 🔬

OCC is an organization that delivers shoeboxes filled with toys, personal care items and school supplies to children in need around the world to show God’s love. Students brought in items, chose what to fill in each box and then prayed over each box for the child that will receive it. 🌎 ❤️

Forensics lab in eighth grade Physical Science! Mr. Bones was found last week with his skeleton dismembered and top portion of his skull missing. Examination at the scene revealed a mysterious substance surrounding the victim. A freshman student was reportedly seen sneaking around the lab benches. A substance that appears to be similar to the one found at the crime scene was discovered on his shoe. Students will need to conduct some physical and chemical experiments to determine the identity of the substance and if the evidence from the crime scene and the shoe match. They had so much fun in this lab!

The Physics class has recently learned the acceleration due to gravity for all objects falling through the air. On Friday, they put that to the test by experimenting with falling objects…objects thrown from the roof.

How much fun is it to learn by watching things be thrown off the roof!
