The event raised enough money to purchase 6,204 meals! I am grateful to all who helped support us.

We are grateful to the Belly Up team for giving us a venue and world-class support—also to Alden Domini for being the Master of Ceremonies, and for providing the opportunity to partner with the San Diego Food Bank; we look forward to many more opportunities to help.

Life brings challenges to us all at different times. When we can be grateful under any circumstance, the Universe expands.

Facts About Jimi Hendrix

The Monterey Pop Festival show changed his fate in the U.S.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was not a popular act in the U.S in 1967. Things started to change for Hendrix in his home country after Paul McCartney recommended him to the organizers of the Monterey Pop Festival. McCartney insisted that the festival would be incomplete without Hendrix, and even agreed to join the board of organizers of the festival. He did set one condition for this task: the Jimi Hendrix Experience would have to be included.

Hendrix’s performance was transcendental, from the songs he chose to play to his choice of clothes. At the end of his set, he burned his guitar in a sort of sacrifice. The photo taken of Hendrix’s burning his guitar and trying to command the flames has become one of the most enduring images of rock n roll. After this performance, Hendrix started to become known in the U.S.

Roni Nash is a songwriter, producer, and Hendrix-inspired guitarist, husband, and father who has spent over two decades working with national and international artists. One of the Co-initiators of the Kraken Hendrix Birthday Bash, Roni continues to be inspired by art, music, performance, and business.

Roni was a writing partner and band member of "Bentley Manor" (a 90's rock band featuring Mark Anthony Fretz (CBS Recording Artist), and his own band "Purple" featuring Gene-O. Roni currently resides in Los Angeles, where he collaborates with various producers on his own guitar-driven record he labels "Power Pop."
