Day 99 since starting Chemo.
Round number 8 of 8!

We got the yard decorated for my "Last Chemo", and we are in route. The picture was taken in the dark, but it turned out better than expect. I'll post more pics later. Twelve pigs, pink balloons, Breast Cancer Awareness signs, and large "LAST CHEMO" lettering. Bruce did a great job adding all the new decor. Thank you, Bruce!

Praying for a good vein to make sure I get my chemo today.

We have everything for pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, and a Chocolate Macaroon Pizza for my Chemo Angels. Gotta spoil them a little bit with a taste of Juicy Brucey's Smoking Hot Meat. 😉

I have Bruce Barrett, Joshua Barrett, and Wesley Barrett with me today. My body guards are on duty in full force! 🥰

Recovery is going great! I still have my drains, but I got the OK to drive from my Surgeon. Just over two weeks since my surgery, and I've been off all medications for one week.

Drove myself to the gym this morning and did just over three miles on the treadmill. Felt amazing! Freedom!!!

I am going to have to do chemo and radation, so I want to be as healthy as possible going into treatment.

I got my lab reports and I had clean margins. Woot woot!! So, my surgeon rocks! Four lymph nodes were positive for cancer and my tumor was around an inch and a half across. So happy to get those out of me.

I know treatment will not be easy, but I am ready for this fight! I have a wedding to look forward to in October of next year, and I have to stick around and see if I will eventually have grandkids to spoil! Too much to look forward to in life to let this get me! Plus, I have to irritate Bruce Barrett for as long as humanly possible! It is in my job description!! 🤣😂😅😍🥰

Guess the time has come to rip off the proverbial bandaid:

As a lot of you already know, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on April 9th of this year.

I have spent the last two years and two months committing myself to doing everything I can to be healthier. I do believe God set me on this journey to prepare me for what was ahead. I would be a total wreck, if I had not changed my lifestyle.

Bruce Barrett has a wonderful job. Joshua Barrett and Wesley Barrett are both grown and have great jobs. Both boys are in great relationships, and Wesley will be getting married next year. Due to covid, our BBQ and remodel have slowed enough that I do not have to help out much, so I had already committed this time to taking care of my health.

I am keeping on smiling and pursuing my healthy lifestyle. This is a speed bump that we will navigate with God's help. I will not let this get the best of me! I am keeping a positive attitude.

My doctor is very impressed with my health and my attitude. He says that people like me are the people who do the best when battling cancer. I am not even going to tell y'all the jokes I crack while sitting on the exam table.. 🤣😂

I will be having surgery on May 12th at noon, Pacific Standard Time. (For my East Coast folks, that's 3pm.) I will have a Single Masectomy with Lymp Node Removal. I will know the treatment plan about four weeks after surgery. On the plus side, my bloodwork is absolutely perfect! I do know that my cancer is Estrogen Positive, Progesterone Positive and HER Negative. I had a PET Scan which confirmed the cancer diagnosis and location. It also confirmed that my other organs were clear. Not bad for less than a month's time.

I asked my personal trainer this past Wednesday to help me find out just how much I can deadlift before I have my surgery. We found out that I can do two reps with 205 pounds. My goal was 200 at least once, so I surpassed my goal!

I am going into this with a positive attitude! I am so thankful for all my family, friends, and all my Prayer Warriors all over the country. I will FIGHT LIKE A GIRL!!
