A peek into tech week with Central Coast Gilbert and Sullivan!
Gorgeous! Cuesta Concord Chorus has landed in Italy and is ...singing for their supper? Saluti!
*Throwback Thursday* and a fun fact! Do you know what a sitzprobe is? From the German phrase for 'seated rehearsal,' a sitzprobe is a rehearsal where the singers sing with the orchestra, focusing attention on integrating the two groups-- often for the first time in the collaboration process!
This photo from six years ago, shows the sitzprobe for Gilbert & Sullivan's production of Trial by Jury one of the rehearsal rooms at Cuesta. "It's a very important evening in the life of a production and it's GREAT fun!" shared conductor Jennifer Martin.
This *sitz* went very well for Yeomen of the Guard, and the company has been enjoying rehearing on the mainstage this week! Everyone is invited out to see the production this weekend only! Saturday 6/15 & Sunday 6/16 at 3pm: tickets.cuesta.edu
Marcy Irving, Jennifer Martin (pictured here), and Paul Osborne (featured in our previous post) will be on KVEC Radio this afternoon with Dave Congalton from 3:30-4:00pm discussing Central Coast Gilbert and Sullivan's production of Yeomen of the Guard, which will take place here at the CPAC this Saturday and Sunday at 3:00pm. Tune in to Hometown Radio at 920 AM on your radio dial or streaming live at 920kvec.com. Yay local radio!
Central Coast Gilbert and Sullivan had a great first run through on the CPAC Mainstage last night for this weekend's production of Yeomen of the Guard! Come on over this weekend and experience this wonderful production: tickets.cuesta.edu - ONLY June 15 & 16 at 3pm.

On 80th Anniversary of D-Day yesterday, Cuesta Concord Chorus shared the video of how they commemorated the 75th Anniversary of D-Day by singing at the American Cemetery in Normandy on the 4th of July.
They commissioned "Normandy" from dear friend, Ron Kean, whose father fought at Normandy. "Ron is conducting us while I am playing the piccolo part he wrote for me," shared CCC Director Cassandra Tarantino. "The chorus was, and still is, very proud and honored to have sung at this special place."
Cuesta Concord Chorus always does such a brilliant job honoring Veterans at concerts here at home. Please enjoy this beautiful video from their performance five years ago, and click their page to follow their wonderful adventures in Italy next week! Safe & happiest travels, friends!

Next weekend! Come and join us at the famous Tower of London for Gilbert and Sullivan’s masterpiece, The Yeomen of the Guard. Central Coast Gilbert and Sullivan presents "The Yeomen of the Guard" on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16.
Written in 1888 and set during the reign of Henry VIII, this is the most serious and, perhaps, most beautiful of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Still filled with witty jesters, funny jailers, and saucy maidens ...the world of the Tower of London comes alive in this glorious work!

It's been a magical week as SLO Movement Arts Center prepares this interdisciplinary premiere in the CPAC Mainstage Theater! What a beautiful collaboration between three local artists: choreographer Maartje Hermans, composer Brook Munro, and photographer Richard Fusillo, as well as their EIGHTY dancers from ages 4 to 25.
"Hermans has found a peace in nature that she wanted to share with her students and audiences: to teach them that once we feel the texture of a place in bare feet, sense the soft touch of wind against the skin, and listen to the sounds of ocean waves, our imagination then allows us to return to that calm and inspiration whenever we choose."
