Santa Rosa Symphony 96 years of Award Winning Concerts, the Santa Rosa Symphony's 2023-2024 Season is here!
(27)

More than 65,000 people attend concerts or music education programs each year. In addition to the musical offerings and musician training listed above, the Symphony's music education outreach consists of: pre-concert talks, free concerts for youth (8 per year, nearly 8,000 total attendance), an in-school daily music listening program (over 250 classrooms), in-school performances by professional e

nsembles, and a music immersion program for 4 selected elementary schools each year, including curriculum materials. The organization has won recognition for community involvement with such projects as A Child of Our Time (Met Life Award for Excellence in Community Engagement) and benefit concerts such as one following Hurricane Katrina. The symphony has a 36-member board of directors, an administrative staff of 14 (includes part and full time), 6 artistic staff, 9 academic faculty (summer), and over 100 volunteers (ushers, concert help, parent help, Symphony League)

✨ We are humbled. Thank you to everyone who came out this past weekend to hear Handel’s Messiah.

🔔 As many of you know, Messiah is an important work for Francesco Lecce-Chong, Conductor Not only did he play the harpsichord, but he also conducted the orchestra, soloists, and chorus. Sometimes he was singing while doing it all! We are truly blessed to have him as our Music Director and Conductor.

🎶 Our orchestra played beautifully. The soloists were phenomenal. But how about the choir—exquisite! Jenny Bent, behind the scenes, prepared the choir for these performances. We appreciate you, Jenny! This weekend, we felt the love from all of you and are eternally grateful for your continued support.

❤️ Thank you from everyone at the Santa Rosa Symphony.

❤️ Giving Tuesday is here!

This is the day when people all over the world join forces to support the causes that mean the most to them. Whether you believe in the vital importance of youth music education, or enjoy our classical, pops, or family concerts, we hope that the Santa Rosa Symphony has made a difference to you this year. Please consider supporting our work with a tax-deductible gift on this special day of giving.

We are also delighted to share that there could not be a better time to make a gift, as a generous donor has made a dollar-for-dollar challenge grant offering to double your donation on this Giving Tuesday and through the end of the year up to $20,000. This means that a donation to one child’s enrollment in a youth ensemble will benefit two children, or a gift to support one radio broadcast of the Santa Rosa Symphony will make two broadcasts possible.

❤️ To make your gift and help us take advantage of the challenge grant, please click the link below:
https://pulse.ly/4nq25ymrdj

❤️ To make a credit card donation by phone, please call 707-546-7097 x214 during normal business hours.

❤️ You may also send a check, payable to Santa Rosa Symphony, to 50 Santa Rosa Ave., Suite 410, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.

✨ On behalf of all of us at the Symphony, we thank you for your support and wish you and yours a warm, happy, and music-filled holiday season!

🥁Masterclass with Third Coast Percussion
Monday, November 6, 2023 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Weill Hall, Green Music Center.

What is a masterclass?
A masterclass is an open lesson, during which a student ( Santa Rosa Symphony Institute for Music Education ) will perform a solo work and is coached by a master teacher (in this case Grammy-Award winning Third Coast Percussion.)

Attending audience (that’s you) listen and learn as observers. It is a fun and informative opportunity to see a top-flight musician and music educator share insights and techniques and to watch a student learn and grow before your eyes.

Event is free but a ticket is required to enter- click link below:

✨ On Friday, October 6, the Santa Rosa Symphony (SRS) held our annual gala with the theme, “Puttin’ on The Ritz.”

This year we honored Alan Seidenfeld, as well as remembering his late wife, Susan. For many years, the Seidenfelds have been loyal Symphony patrons and donors. Alan has been a Board member for a decade-plus, with a two-year term as Board Chairman (2019-2021), guiding our organization through the tumultuous COVID pandemic. In addition, Alan and Susan have been among the Symphony’s most munificent patrons. Long-time supporters of the Family Concert Series, which includes an instrument “petting zoo” for children—they have also generously supported the Symphony’s numerous life-changing Music Education programs for children and youth. The Seidenfeld’s gifts and their influence over time have made a positive difference to so many in our community.

Susan Dean Seidenfeld was a very special woman. She was beautiful, noble, and stately. Our Symphony family deeply mourns her loss. Susan chose the “Puttin’ on the Ritz” theme before she passed in March 2023. This gala evening gave her friends and family an opportunity to remember and celebrate Susan for who she was and what she did with 75 years of life as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a good friend and a kind and giving soul.

We’re thrilled to announce that this October 6th gala was our most successful in the Symphony’s history! Many thanks go to State Senator Mike McGuire, who in his energetic and entertaining style, led the Fund-a-Need paddle raise. We also express sincere appreciation to everyone who attended the event and raised their paddle in support of the Santa Rosa Symphony Institute for Music Education in honor of the Seidenfelds.
