We are looking forward to hosting and sponsoring Scribente Maternum, , an organization creating community for moms who write, at this in-person retreat on Saturday, April 20th at The Pioneer Collective Belltown with co-sponsor .
From Scribente Maternum:
“Start the day with the unparalleled Angela Garbes (1-2:30pm), author of Essential Labor: Mothering as Social Change, in a session entitled “The Work that Makes All Other Work Possible” that explores the history of why care work is undervalued, then challenge and expand our understanding of what ‘mothering’ and care labor is and can be—(tickets start at $27). Then join Kristen Millares-Young (3-4:30pm) in her workshop, “How to Write a Family Portrait” made free thanks to support from Humanities Washington—And finally, join Kristen, Angela, along with author Maggie Mertens and interdisciplinary artist, writer, and activist, Amber Flame, at a panel discussion and writer-moms social down the street at Black Bottle Gastro Tavern (5:30-7pm)”
