Thanks for joining us at last night's Camerata Ireland show! Our season finale will be on May 19th when we are thrilled to have Tessa Lark & Frank Vignola join us!
Only two shows remain for this season! March 7th Camerata Ireland will join us! Barry Douglas, Camerata Ireland, and guests Celine Byrne (soprano) and Eimear McGeown (flute) bring an enchanting mix of music to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
The first half of the concert features the three soloists, individually, in works by Beethoven, Mercadante, Mozart and Handel. The second part of the program sees a shift to music from the performers’ heritage. A nod to the ‘classical’ with some nocturnes by the Dublin-born John Field, and an aria by William Balfe acts as a neat ‘bridge’ to a selection of traditional airs and dances, from the iconic The Lark in the clear air and I wish I was in Carrickfergus to the more contemporary Inis by Eimear McGeown and Barry’s Reels by Catriona McKay and Chris Stout. A true celebration of music-making by some of Ireland’s most talented performers.

Tuesday, April 25th will be the 60th Anniversary of the Cleveland Orchestra and George Szell’s last appearance for Troy Chromatic Concerts, during our 66th Season, before a capacity audience at the Music Hall. Szell offered two additional Slavonic Dances by Dvorak as encores.
The orchestra has the distinction of being Chromatics’ most frequent returning artists at 24 times (between 1926 and 1963). The first 12 were with the Cleveland’s original conductor, Nikolai Sokoloff, and the second 12 were with Szell. Szell always considered the Troy Music Hall to be ranked among the world’s finest concert halls. And he looked forward to bringing the orchestra there en route to their annual visit to New York’s Carnegie Hall in the Spring.
