My heart hurt so bad today. I went to my mom's to look at old pictures of my brother.

My mom took me and my sweet daughter to dinner and I voted for Leones.

The waiter came and he introduced himself as "Frankie"

My brothers name.

We broke out in tears and looked completely crazy.

My mom then asked him his birthday and he said 4/2.

Same as my brothers, so we cried more.

My head is down processing the coincidences.

My mom said, how old are you?

The waiter said, "well now im scared to say but im 53."

Needless to say I am baffled that our waiter tonight had the same name, same birthday, same age as my beloved brother.

Thank you Frankie for the exceptional service, food, and complimentary tiramisu. Your hospitality and energy brought my family joy this evening.

Grief is a big B, but the universe has a funny way of bringing you joy.

I am SO grateful for my customers and I love you all so so much!

Working since my brother passed has been a challenge.

I'm not as fast, I'm not as patient, I tire out quickly and I need a good cocktail by the end of the day.

Well the last part has always been the case 😂🥃🤷🏽‍♀️

I say this to say, I know you all count on me for fresh delicious food and it keeps me going!!!

Lots of folks ordered my famous caprese pasta salad for the 4th of July, so I got a head start on that today!

Ribs and chicken for many of your orders will go in the smoker very early am.

Truth: On my brothers birthday 4/2, I zelled him surprise dinner money.

I woke up with it on my heart to do, so I did it.

I haven't stopped thanking God for putting this on my heart, now knowing it was his last birthday on this earth.

Later that evening he called me and said he had been at the office 6 am to 7pm and the dinner treat was the best part of his day.

He sent me a picture of his rye Manhattan and he was so so happy that I was able to make his birthday special.

After the tasting, we will move to the rooftop terrace where dinner will be served and one of the two bars will be dedicated to my dear brother.

I'm putting my entire heart into this event, so if you don't have your entry don't wait...

Reflecting on this business and how far I have come.

I thought becoming a mother was the hardest job I would ever have.

Turns out being a business owner through:

Staffing shortages,
a recession,
through times of grief,
family health issues,
Increased food cost
Learning curves,

and the normal turbulence that every business owner faces..is the HARDEST job I have ever had.

This menu was the first catering menu I debuted when I expanded from my charcuterie menu.

Before I knew it we were getting calls for weddings, retirement parties and everything you can imagine.

I lost my partner, I've cried, I've contemplating giving up, I've doubted my success and talent...

But here I stand not perfect but stronger.

If it weren't for all of you I don't know where I would be.

Four steps a caterer should do before they book/cater a big event:

1. Visit the venue!!!!

You have no idea how many times I have been promised tables, linens, outlets etc and upon arrival the entire story has changed.

Caterers are responsible for set up, so confirm in advance what the venue/customer will be providing.

2. Time allowed for set up.

My chef and I have made insanely delicious food, and then the venue will allow one hour or less for set up.

This is a huge challenge, so be sure to confirm this in advance.

3. Venue cleaning requirements.

Get these requirements in writing. Caterers are like butlers we get blamed for everything.

One time my team and I were given 150 charger plates to clean at the end of the night that weren't in the agreement.

These are details you want to know upfront.

4. Party/wedding timeline.

If a couple is planning to say "I do" in the same room that you are setting up, you will need to know this detail WELL in advance.

It would be a tragedy to ruin their nuptials with the click clacking of chafers.

Overall,

Planning is so key when it comes to catering.

Advanced booking allows a caterer to execute flawlessly for your event. Last minute or short notice, reduces the success rate.

I went on LIVE but fb wouldn't let me. I recorded a video to post but fb wouldn't upload it. For those that don't know... On 5/20 my vehicle was stolen with MANY MANY personal belongings in it. Phone, purse, medication, check book... credit cards, etc etc I went and bought a new phone only to find out that Facebook wouldn't let me post unless I verify my identity from the stolen phone. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I have been posting with NO access to messenger from meta business suite app. I have cried, I have lost sleep, I am have missed my customers with my entire soul. I paid IT professionals, a mechanical engineer, and many other "techy" folks to help me to no avail. My best friend, my family, my daughter's father.... Worked on my phone and FIXED THIS ISH!!!!! Yalll.... I am CRYING 121 messages just populated my messenger and I was able to reply to each and every one of you. He's a Gemini Genius and I love him deep. I also love all 9,300 of YOU!
