The projecting timber porch or entrance to The Bilsington Priory is particularly loved by our in-house florist, as it gives her so many opportunities to dress it for your grand entrance and exit.

In Great Britain, projecting porches became common in churches by the early medieval period. Typically constructed from stone, though sometimes like ours, timber, these porches were usually located on the church’s south side, but they could also be found on the west and north sides, sometimes in multiple locations. The roofed porch provided shelter for worshippers and guests.

We can't wait to see what colours, flowers or style you will add to our beautiful porch.

For inspiration see Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapello Mozzi’s wedding at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park on July 17, 2020. Princess Beatrice selected a bouquet featuring trailing jasmine, pale pink and cream sweet peas, royal porcelain ivory spray roses, pink O’Hara garden roses, pink wax flowers, and baby pink astilbe. This arrangement perfectly complemented the floral archway at the chapel door, designed especially for the occasion.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Bilsington Priory Wedding Instagram account! 🎉 a celebration of all things weddings.

Sadly, Storm Eunice (known as Storm Zeynep in Germany and Storm Nora in Denmark) ripped off our roof with its powerful hurricane-force winds. After the UK Met Office issued red weather warnings, we faced challenging times with scaffolding and repairs. But now, our three-time Heritage Kent Wedding Venue is ready to welcome you again. Our porch doors are open for weddings and events. Thank you for your patience—we’ve missed hosting your special occasions and celebrations.
