Sometimes you don't feel like being an optimist ,and certainly don't want to be a pessimist, but you can always be a psalmist!

As 2023 closes and 2024 begins check out Psalms 90.

Psalm 90:12-" Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom ".
God can help us reprioritize our lives and give us wisdom for the time we have left ,to make the greatest impact possible.
Psalm 90:14-" Satisfy us early with your mercy that we may rejoice and be glad all our days ".
God can fill empty hearts and bring intense joy to our daily walk with Him.
Psalm 90:16- "Let your work appear to your servants and your glory to their children".
God can make us partakers of what He's doing in the world . He can help us to see the fulfilment of our desire and His desire.
Psalm 90:17-"Establish the work of our hands for us,yea, establish the work of our hands".
God can help solidify those things that we work towards .He can give us wisdom and strength to finish what has been started.
Psalm 90:17-" Let the beauty of the Lord be upon us".
God can change what we feel is unchangeable,that is our hearts. His character can be reproduced in our lives.
If 2023 wasn't your year,start 2024 with Psalms 90. It's the best way to begin again.🙏

It is important to note that societal norms and expectations have evolved over time, and perceptions of gender roles have changed significantly. In the past, there may have been traditional gender roles that emphasized different expectations for men and women. In these traditional roles, men were often seen as the providers and protectors of the family, while women were expected to fulfill domestic duties and maintain harmony within the household.

In my own view respect for men in older generations might have been earned through various factors, including:

1. Financial responsibility:
Yesterday -Men were often expected to be the primary earners and provide for the family's financial needs.
They would go and work in far lands,buy a house and the wife would then turn it into a home.

Today -Most women are bread winners or earn more than their spouses.
Financial responsibilities are shared.

2. Protection and security:
Yesterday -Men were typically expected to protect their families from external threats and ensure their safety.

Today - I believe it's still the same .
When men feel loved they in turn protect that which they have fallen into love with 👏

3. Patriarchal authority:
Yesterday -Men often held the position of authority within the family, making important decisions and maintaining discipline.
Crime rate was low, because discipline eminated from families spreading to communities and society at large.

Today - Patriarchal authority in families has sold it's birth right to matriarchal control and that has caused violence in the streets (let me know my limits and stop here).

4. Social status:
Yesterday -Men's respect might have been influenced by their reputation in the community, their occupation, or their standing within their social circle.

Today -Lost respect in the family circle and no reputation in society.

However, it is essential to recognize that these roles and expectations were not universal and varied across different cultures, regions, and individuals. Modern society has moved towards more gender equality, challenging and redefining traditional gender norms, roles, and expectations.
