A gentle understated colour palette for this early May wedding for Christy and Tobias ❤️ white, cream and a touch of light blue - airy, summery, gentle with some standout beautiful seasonal blooms like tulips and peonies. Loved working on this one. And the hugest thanks to lovely Christy who wrote the kindest review for me on Google. I cannot thank you enough 🫶

Here it is in full - sometimes you just have to promote yourself (loudly!)

‘Working with Bryony was an absolute joy. She was so helpful in bringing my vision for our wedding to life, and absolutely exceeded all expectations. Everyone mentioned how beautiful our floral place settings were, pretty and understated. My bouquet was absolutely perfect and better than the references I had provided! Would absolutely recommend for all your wedding flower needs.’

Photos by the lovely talented who has been so generous tagging me and sharing!

👋I’ve got out of the habit posting (again) so going back into with a ‘florist at work’ and in a happy place post.

It’s mid-wedding crazy season and so far it’s been great, lots of bright colourful weddings with couples embracing the seasons and flowers grown locally for their big day including this wonderful wedding at Firle Place in May for India & Al 🫶

I created a ceremony backdrop to frame the vows in the beautiful courtyard - it was the week of and was lucky enough to have some show-stopping blooms from my growers to use - amazing tall foxgloves, glorious delphiniums, huge alliums and the biggest reddest peonies and a wonderful photographer who happened to be there and photographed me mid faff - yay! I’m awful at taking photos on the set up day as too busy fiddling to get it just right and done in time so this was a very lucky happening for me - apparently people buy from people so here I am creeping out from behind the flowers 🫣

Thank you for sticking around here - your support is so appreciated - and if you’re looking for a wedding florist do get in touch, I’m booking 2025 now! This is your sign to get in touch 🪧

Oooh and I have a few dates for autumn/winter, have a lovely Sunday whatever you are doing 🫶

A summer ceremony set up with Lucy and Zak used much of their floral budget on a few statement arrangement that worked hard all day. Lucy is registrar so has seen a few weddings!

First set up here as a welcome to guests and ceremony backdrop, then a little shuffle to wedding meal to frame the table and later as a DJ backdrop for the after party 💒🍽️🎉💃🏻

And almost everything is better with a glitter ball!🪩

I only got one photo of India’s bouquet (it was a busy few days! 🙈) but luckily you cannot take a bad photo in the riding school at Firle Place!

So many of my favourites in here but the standouts are the sheer vibrancy of colour and variety (I used everything May threw at me!) and fragrance, I’m getting into this more and more as so many flowers are grown commercially for size or longevity when a fragrant one pops up it’s a wow moment - David Austin roses, bright stocks and apple mint were divine 😍 - scent is so evocative seems important to ensure it’s there on special days!

A beautiful wedding at Firle Place this weekend, full of vibrant colour and fragrance - May flowers in bloom! Lots of Sussex grown flowers, the ceremony was a bit of a floral show stopper and so much fun to make, clean modern white plinths and minimal structural arrangements letting the amazing flowers talk!

Yesterday’s glorious wedding was an absolute dream to work on - the flowers (bright colours, seasonal, British), the venue (I visited here as a child and fell in love with Firle Place again watching Emma, a film immersed in flowers!), the team (another Bryony!) , lovely couple and a beautiful sunny day to complete 😍 I had such a blast choosing all these flowers, I got a bit carried away tbh but the result was worth it 🫶

Thanks to - always fitting me in! beautiful roses for the bouquet so passionate about her flowers and Chelsea worthy foxgloves and delphiniums 👏 as well as the most amazing huge red peonies I used everywhere so yes a lot of suppliers right?! And my freelance team helping me so much

Full disclosure this was my biggest wedding to date so was a little nervous and to explain the OTT post but now cannot wait to do it again - although I’m still cleaning up and unpacking! And the end isn’t quite insight yet :)

An elegant neutral bouquet for C married yesterday on a beautiful sunny day. I’m a big colour lover of course but there’s always a place for stylish simplicity like this - and its a chance to play with textures, shapes, and heights within the bouquet. A springy summer bouncy bouquet full of everything May brings - peonies, roses, stocks, delphinium, orlaya, corncockle, allium, ranuculus, tulips (reflexed petals so in disguise here!), sweet rocket and spirea. A final goodbye to spring flowers and big hello to summer this weekend ☀️

Yesterday was a chance to think about our impact and what we can do more / less of.

I’m by no means perfect but do a little where I can in my business and this includes:

- buying flowers locally or UK grown whenever I can
- working seasonally (and always recommending this)
- limiting the use of floral foam (in fact it’s so long since I used I think I can say I’m a ….)
- reusing everything, delivery packaging, jam-jars, boxes, food packaging (I delivered my buttonholes in a pink lady apple tray last week, I thought that I’d covered my tracks but saw a big apple logo on the side I missed as I handed over - ah 🙈…)
- pushing my agenda of natural funerals whenever appropriate …

There’s always more to do, of course, any small steps you take?

Do comment here - I loved the quote I saw all over yesterday from Anne Marie Bonneau

‘We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions doing it imperfectly’ 🌍

And here’s a spring farewell flowers made with 80% spring flowers from . So yes not perfect in a way but in this case roses, waxflower and astrantia were meaningful to the family - so that’s important as well 💚

I’ve got out of the habit of posting again but not overthinking it this morning and starting back with one of my favourite kinds of bouquets, bright colour, texture and Sussex summer flowers.

It’s not long to go now until my wedding season and I’m finalising April and May weddings and getting excited. It’s great to hibernate but itching to get back to it now ….

I also have some good but a bit bizarre news, so I’ve made it to the finals of awards for best Sussex florist! Woop!💥 and there’s such a lot of wonderful florists in Sussex - many I admire and many I work with - so to just be included and get this far is great! I put it down largely to the connections/customers I made locally in lockdown who I suspect were my key voters at stage 1 (and also maybe my Dad?!) 😆

Anyhow if you can spare 5 minutes to vote I’d so appreciate it as voting resets for this round! I’ll add add link to my bio. Thank you 🙏

👋 I found out this week that I’ve made it to the finals for best Sussex florist in Muddy Stilettos regional awards. It’s very surprising and flattering to say the least as I still feel somewhat of a newbie and there are so many other wonderful florists in Sussex! (Many I know well and work with 🙏) But it’s happened somehow, so let’s go with it, campaign starts here ✅

Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me in the first round, if anyone can spare a few minutes do it again I’d so appreciate it …. as voting starts again from zero for this round.

Link below (I hope?!) I’ve some technical troubles so if not working please say.

On Friday I taught a workshop at a local vineyard I’ve worked with for a few years 💚 in Streat near Ditchling.

We used the cosy tasting room behind the bar and created spring living eco wreaths on a grapevine base. By eco I mean everything used will degrade naturally, it’s all attached by green garden twine - no wire no plastic - plants are bound in to continue growing in the moss and flowers have hidden water tubes to hydrate. It seems important to create in this way when possible and for me creates a truer celebration of the season. I encouraged the attendees to add to their wreath from walks or their garden or a even bunch of flowers - as much as I could without sounding too fanatical - this creates a living piece that’s constantly changing like nature during spring! It’s a lovely way to pause get your hands a little messy and note the change of season !

And mist 💦🔫 If you have one of these don’t forget to mist! Aside from the tubes the moss gives water source.

I have a few classes planned for later in the year. Pop me a message to hear first 💚 and check out artelium for wine and pop up food nights as the days get longer.

Bluebell season is in-coming … worth remembering today as it’s another crazy wet day in Sussex (tipping, hosing, streaming it down). In preparation for season, I dug out these images from a styled shoot I took part in a few years ago at a beautiful glamping site in Surrey with a fab team of suppliers.

So lovely to look back on as although my style has definitely changed a lot, my choices less so - still pastel anemones and spirea for spring every time! But I’d love a redo if anyone is planning a bluebell inspired wedding? ;)

We were published by which was amazing (a great resource to check out for outdoorsy weddings!) and after 3 years I’ve finally added to my blog too. Link in stories.

Who else loves bluebells and is excited to see them? 💙

A little touch of spring in the air today and thinking spring flowers as I plan for April weddings, it comes around quickly! 💕

Here’s a spring-y wedding bouquet from last year in soft shade of blush pink and featuring one of my spring favourites - spirea - also known as bridal veil, a fluffy white foliage it adds a little romantic whimsical touch to your wedding bouquet and is a gorgeous shrub to just have in your garden too 😍

Very excited to say Bryony Mae Flowers has been nominated in the Muddy Stilettos awards under the florist category in Sussex for 2024 local business awards.

Thank you to whoever nominated me!

Please could you spare a few minutes and nominate my business again using the link below before March 14th. Businesses with the most nominations go through to the final round of voting. There are a lot of amazing florists in Sussex so just to get slightly further would be awesome.

https://t.ly/J2XFM

I retrained as a florist in 2018 after a tricky advertising redundancy and have come a long way in the last 6 years from lockdown local flowers to full on weddings and developing a bit of a speciality in sustainable funeral flowers.

And hopefully it’s not too cloying to say, I’ve also met my tribe of like minded people with a wonderful supportive group of other local florists that help make work fun - and nothing like work.

👋A little bit of colour to round off a grey day! 🌈

Just getting back on the posting circuit, so easy to lose the way when something tips you over (hello last week!) - & wowsers I’ve missed so much - St David’s day 🌼 international woman’s day 🫶, the floral biggie that is Mother’s Day🌷

All still celebrated but in an off line way this time (daffodils and welsh cakes), enjoying everyone else’s posts , making bouquets and beautiful tulip bunches and enjoying my Tony’s chocolate 🍫

Back to it all this week 💪 anyone else lost their way with the socials recently?? ❤️

Mothers Day Sunday 10th March

I'm taking a limited number of pre-orders if anyone would like to gift flowers (Mum's love flowers I hear!)

Florist choice bouquets - £35, £50 or £65

(similiar in style to photos here, I will choose the best available flowers rather than try and stick to set a design which is always tricky as prices fluctuate at this busy time!)

Fancy British grown tulips
£10 or £20

And by fancy I mean doubles, frilly or parrots, those tulips that make you go WOW (if you know you know and if you don’t that’s ok too but they are basically amazing flowers - many petalled and lots of shape and character). I'm going peachy - pink as one of my favourite combos.

Available to collect by arrangement on Friday or Saturday afternoon. Or delivery at a time to suit!

Any questions please ask. PM me or email [email protected] to order.

I love it when a couple come in with a strong view on a flower or colour to build their wedding around! Something meaningful or something they just love, it makes designing bespoke weddings such fun. For Phoebe it was sunflowers and the late August date was perfect for English grown sunflowers, I even got to PYO most of these myself so genuinely hand picked field to bouquet service here ✌️🌻

I’ve posted so many bouquets recently (the leading ladies, I love the bouquets!) but your ceremony drop back is important as well ❤️ Who doesn’t want to get married surrounded by flowers? Seriously who?
Here’s one idea, combining a few things I love - macrame, flowers and bright colours. Something like this is a great multi-use option as you can have it for the ceremony and then move it to your reception later to frame a top table (for example).

A luxury spring bouquet mulberry colours inspired 💜without wishing away the winter days, I am getting a little excited about spring flowers (broom and the anemones sing out the loudest here to me!) These flowers are special prcisely because they are seasonal for winter/spring only and simply unavailable the rest of the year 💜

So this is my most successful pin on Pinterest to date with hundreds of people re-pinning for inspo (and yet, and yet, no one has ever asked me to recreate or got in touch 😂). What’s that about? Still figuring it all out - there’s a lot to learn about all the social medias! Is it actually good that people use images for inspo but will never buy from you? Any Pinterest knowledge hit me with it.

Link in bio for my Pinterest if anyone wants to follow me there (and pin this purple bouquet …)

I added some Taylor Swift music for people reading to the end and flagging (I see you and appreciate you!)👋
