If you are buying a preloved dress (or any dress for that matter) you need to hear this. 📣THE SIZE IT SAYS ON THE LABEL DOESN’T DEFINE YOU!Yes I’m shouting. You only need to do a quick google to see that women’s dress sizing is all over the place and varies from brand to brand. It is common for clothing companies in the UK and USA to use “vanity sizing”. This means labelling clothing a size smaller than it actually is, as customers are more likely to shop somewhere that their clothes size is lower. Depending on the designer, bridal sizes tend to come up small because the patterns are based on European size charts from the 1940’s and just to confuse things further, some bridal designers choose to create their own size chart. This can be a mine field when shopping for a wedding dress, especially ordering online. The most common size in the UK is a size 16 which could mean that you are buying a size 18-22 in bridal.
