June is Pride month - a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities all around the world.
Joe Baker Redditch Labour's Diversity Officer and a member of the Redditch Pride Committee says "We are now in PRIDE month, and it gives us an opportunity to stand united as a whole community.
As we are living in troubled times and so many countries still oppress the LGBTQ + Community - PRIDE is needed more than ever.
It is our opportunity to stand and celebrate diversity, but it is also an opportunity for us to stand up and fight against that hatred and oppression.
Recently the LGBTQ+ community and others stood up when the Redditch MP shared disparaging comments on Social Media about a member of the Trans Community without a care about the effects it had on the person and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole . It's important that we celebrate diversity in Redditch, Britain and the world over. PRIDE helps us to educate us and to celebrate our differences.
Redditch PRIDE is on Saturday 8th June, at 11 am outside the Town Hall, with lots of live music, entertainment, stalls, with lots of night time entertainment.
Joe Baker encourages everyone to come along and see how great our Redditch community can be.
