Love Winter Best?

We’re working on making Winter Best annual, and as a part of this we’ve applied to the Ministry for Culture and Heritage Cultural Sector Regeneration Fund.

If you’d like to lend your support to the festival, feedback is open until 11:59pm this Sunday 13th November.

Public and sector feedback is an important part of the application, so if you’d like to see Winter Best return in 2023 and beyond, hop to it!

It’s a relatively short feedback form, and should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.

Winter Best - a free whānau-friendly music festival at the majestic Corban Estate Arts Centre.

In June 2022, 30 of Tāmaki Makaurau's finest acts played over five stages, alongside a Whānau Zone with free activities for tāmariki and a kai village.

Thanks to Corban Estate Arts Centre for having us, to all the performing artists, and a massive thanks to everyone that helped make it happen - Interesting Things Aotearoa, The Production Co., Twice the Hype, Gen One, Standard Worksafe, Liquid Events and Sarin Moddle.

Winter Best was supported by the Local Activation Fund Programme, administered by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited on behalf of the New Zealand Government. Ka pai!

Aotearoa’s top children’s performers played the Winter Best Whānau Zone including Suzy Cato, Anika Moa, Captain Festus McBoyle, GO-GO Family Rave and Le Cirque de JP.

Alongside the finest family music available to humans large and small, there were also sustainable activities thanks to J***y Monkeys, The ReCreators and Rainbow Rascals Face & Body Art

And that’s a wrap on Winter Best 2022. What a whirlwind of a day! A massive thanks to everyone who partied with us—your energy was off the charts!

To our headliners, LEISURE and The Beths, and all our incredible artists and performers who brought next-level talent to our stages, we salute you.

To our village of food trucks, we have endless gratitude for the delicious meals that kept bellies full. To Corban Estate Arts Centre, thank you for hosting us in your truly stunning setting. And last, but absolutely not least, all the thanks to the Local Activation Fund Programme, administered by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited on behalf of the New Zealand Government. Without your generosity Winter Best wouldn’t have existed in the first place.

Planning how to get to Winter Best?

There is no car parking on site at Winter Best - here are a few options for getting there:

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Corban Estate Arts Centre is a 15 minute walk from Henderson Train Station and a number of bus stops. Below is a handy map with the fastest and easiest way to get to Winter Best from Henderson Train Station.

BRING YOUR BIKE

Corban Estate Arts Centre is located on a bike path - ride to Winter Best and the lovelies at will look after your bike while you're at the festival. The Bike Valet is located right next to the entrance on Mt Lebanon Lane. Bike Valet parking is made possible thanks to Bike Auckland and .

TAXIS AND RIDESHARE

If you ask your taxi or rideshare to drop you off near Henderson Park, it is a short walk through Henderson Park to the entrance to the festival.

However you get to Winter Best, please be safe - cross roads at the lights, and only cross train tracks using the pedestrian crossings.

We're not far from the best day you'll have all Winter, so here's a little info to help get you ready!

🍔 Please leave your drinks and food at home 🥤- we've got heaps available! Parents with small kids may also bring a small amount of food on-site, however.

🌦Dress for the weather 🌤 - bring something warm for the evening, and a rain coat if it looks like it may rain. Bring sunscreen if it is a clear, fine day.

🚰 Water🚰 - bring an empty reusable water bottle, free water is available onsite.

🎟 Your ticket 🎟 - No ticket, no entry.

✨Positive vibes ✨ - community-mindedness, respect for yourself and others, and a child-like sense of excitement. This is going to be fun!

Stephanie Brown and Fen Ikner are Lips, a jubilant mélange of indie, synth-pop and American New Wave. Founded in 2010 in New York City, LIPS won a prestigious Silver Scroll songwriting award just two years later for their song ‘Everything To Me'.

The husband and wife duo went on to arrange, score and write original songs for hit play Daffodils before music directing the film adaptation. They recently released their debut album I Don’t Know Why I Do Anything.

Musical ensemble Carnivorous Plant Society deliver cinematic jazz music like no other.

Self-described as “Mexican mariachi mixes with spaghetti western; futuristic sci-fi blends with bizarre, spine-chilling nuances drawn from Stephen King novels” the group is anything but traditional.

Their latest release The Plants is an instrumental number said to be the perfect accompaniment to backyard weight lifting or jungle rafting.

Lou'ana serves a cosmic cocktail of sweet and soulful, with an added gritty, blues edge that references the golden age of Eta James, to the rawness of Stevie Nicks.

Combining soul, funk and jazz with a hint of her Pacific roots, and a heavy does of Magick, her heart and soul translates through sound in that unexplainable alchemy that happens when music meets word.

Winter Best is proud to be family-friendly with our Whānau Zone that’s packed full of fun for the kids, from Anika Moa and Suzy Cato to the raucous Captain Festus McBoyle , GO-GO Family Rave and Le Cirque de JP.

Featuring a tie-dye station, jewellery making, face painting with Rainbow Rascals Face & Body Art and an epic J***y Monkeys playground made entirely of recycled junk materials, they’ll be entertained for hours!

The irresistible world-beat fusion of Weird Together began as a studio project back in 2011. Since then, the globally-minded dance music group has become a crowd favourite, playing festivals, nightclubs, and parties including Rhythm and Vines, Homegrown, Morning People, and Subsonic.
