This stunning dome was a fantastic centre piece for our Matariki celebration last night.
Tonight the dome will be hosting a kids Matariki disco from 5.30pm. We will also be joined from 5.30-7.30pm Vege Pulse food truck and we still have a couple of spaces still available for our Wooden Feather making workshop with The ReCreators - this is an adults-only class from 6-8pm. This is an event for all the Whānau, including story-telling, food trucks, lights, music, a performance by LATP kindy kids & make-your-own Matariki dream-catcher workshop with The ReCreators!

On Thursday 4th July we are hosting The ReCreators for a fantastic wooden feather making workshop for adults.
This is a FREE workshop, where you get to make your own wooden feather creation from thin offcuts of wood to take home.
Workshop runs from 6-8pm.

On Sunday we held our quarterly Albert-Eden Kids Only Market at the Mt Albert War Memorial Hall.
Our Kids Only markets are normally held on a Saturday, but to accommodate the Saturday winter sports kids, we gave a Sunday market a go.

We regularly get 60 stall holders and upwards of 300 visitors to each of these markets.

There were a lot of stalls with quality second hand toys, books, and clothes.
Given the time of year, many stalls featured fresh citrus from everyone's trees, and the kids had been creative with different home-made cordials and juices. There were also slices, pies, hot dogs, and nachos.
Other stalls featured animal masks, beads, tie-dye t-shirts, wooden swords, shell necklaces and cake toppers.

We had a bubble activity outside, where the kids had created a homemade bubble mixture and made giant bubbles.

Save the Children attended to conduct a survey of what kids think of the cell phone ban in schools.

There was a lovely vibe to the market with a mix of first-time stallholders and regulars.
One regular stall holder shared that they have saved up the money made at the Albert-Eden Kids Only Market over the last year and bought themselves a bike.

Matariki @ Pt Chev 2024!
Pt Chev Community Centre, Learning At The Point Community Kindergarten Pt Chev & the Pt Chevalier Little Library invite you to join us for a series of events in celebration of Matariki 2024.

Tuesday 2nd July - 4.30pm
Mānawatia a Matariki! Pt Chevalier Drama Clubs young singers will perform songs chosen by the students and worked on during their after school lessons under the guidance of amazing singing tutor Joanna Mika Toloa.

Wednesday 3rd July - 5.30-7.30pm

Want your own eco focused neighbours group?
Eco Neighbourhoods is an Albert-Eden Local Board initiative where neighbours form a group together and do sustainable activities they are passionate about!
The variety of things you can do is massive, from workshops on gardening, composting and setting up rainwater harvesting systems to setting up park orchards, shared chicken coops or little seed and book (or even bike) libraries!
There is $800 for a new group in Albert-Eden.
