"Seussical Jr." at Bethlehem middle school showcases students of all kinds

Emma Farman doesn't have any lines in "Seussical Jr.," a musical based on the books of Dr. Seuss being staged this weekend at Bethlehem Middle School.

"She earned her spot in the cast," Dashew said.

Musical apprentices part of concert - Youth Arts - timesunion.com - Albany NY

Now entering its 15th year, Albany Pro Musica’s Artist Apprenticeship Program provides a unique opportunity for exceptional high school students to experience what it means to make music on a professional level.

The Artist Apprenticeship Program began in 1998 and has included talented singers from five upstate counties. Apprentices join Albany Pro Musica for specific concert performances and are chosen based on the results of their most recent NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) ratings and recommendations from their music teacher. Each student is paired with an APM singer “mentor” who guides them through the rehearsal process and performance, and each student is provided with new music scores that they can use throughout their music careers. There is no cost to the students involved.

On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13 and 14, apprentices from three local counties will join Albany Pro Musica on stage at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall to perform Bach’s Magnificat and Corigliano’s “Fern Hill” with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of David Alan Miller.
