Manchester New Music Festival – North Manchester, Indiana - Call for Works

The Manchester University (N. Manchester, Indiana) Department of Music is pleased to announce a call for submissions for the 3rd Manchester New Music Festival.

The festival will take place on the Manchester University campus in North Manchester, Indiana on May 6-7, 2022. This year’s featured performer will be cellist, Nick Photinos.

Composers may submit work in the following categories:
- Works for featured performer, Nick Photinos: solo cello, cello and piano, cello with electronics (live or fixed media) - Nick is especially interested in works for cello and fixed media.
- Instrumental solo or chamber works for which the composer can provide performers
- Electroacoustic compositions (with or without video)
- Paper sessions/presentations

Submission Details:
- Composers may submit up to two works for consideration.
- Electroacoustic compositions are also encouraged (although limited to 4-channel playback).
- Preference will be given to works less than 10 minutes in duration. Works that are a little bit longer will be considered, but preference will be given to shorter compositions (due to limited programming space).
- Composers of selected works will be expected to attend the festival.
- Papers/presentation proposals on any topics related to contemporary music are also encouraged.
- We are unfortunately unable to provide performers (except for works for solo cello, cello and piano or cello with electronics)
- There is no submission or registration fee.

The Manchester New Music Festival is made possible by the Joyce and Wil Nolen Music Fund.

The first and second Manchester New Music Festivals were held in 2013 and 2015. After a hiatus, we are excited to bring the festival back and plan to continue hosting this event on a regular basis moving forward.

Announcing the 2022 ASCAP/SEAMUS Student Commission Competition

The Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) is pleased to announce the 2022 ASCAP/SEAMUS Student Composer Commissioning Program. The purpose of this program is to promote student participation in SEAMUS activities, and to encourage young composers to pursue creative endeavors in electro-acoustic music.

The submission deadline is October 15th, 2021.
