I am the CEO and Founder of STARR MUSIC GROUP, LLC. I am of Haitian decent, born and raised in East Flatbush in Brooklyn. I make my home in Flatbush Junction and have for over twenty years. By the age of nine I knew music was my passion. The love of music is the driving focus of my life. I've worked in just about every aspect of the music business, writing, production, video, concert and event pro
motion. My special talents, however, lie in the areas of marketing and artist development. In the early 90's I started out under the apprenticeship of Hip-Hop pioneer “Uncle” Ralph McDaniels. Following that, I worked at a handful of records labels including Bad Boy Entertainment, Loud Records, Red Reel Pictures, and Biz Productions. In 1998, I took a leap of faith and broke out on my own with a company I started called Rising Star Music Group,LLC. That company evolved into the Starr Music Group of today. At SMG our specialty is finding talented individuals and developing them into successful Hip-Hop artists. Breakout is our business.
◆ My experience:Coordinating brand marketing, messaging, and imaging for each artist through:Creating and executing artist release timelines, one sheets/ecards, and PoP creation to service retailers and marketing reps (people outside the industry won't know what this is)Working with regional marketing reps across the country to maximize marketing efforts within the specific marketplaces Updating weekly marketing plans implemented via radio, press, and internet.Identifying innovative styles of album packaging, photo shoots, video shoots, and television/radio/online advertisingCreatively soliciting video treatments to directors, coordinating video shoot details, and executing video deliveryDeveloping effective copy and art direction for various marketing tools ( posters, flyers, stickers, etc.) Acting as a liaison between artist/management and record labelCreating and maintaining synergies between artists and corporate brand promotional partners for exposure to a shared targeted audienceSecuring concert tickets with regional promoters along with setting up meet and greets with artists and brand appropriate partnersManaging and maintaining all artist marketing budgets through various budget tracking systems.
