I can’t believe it’s already been 8 weeks since Ally & Sam tied the knot!

Their day first and foremost glorified Jesus’ name at every opportunity. This, on its own, puts this wedding in the category of one of our very favorites but ON TOP OF THAT they are absolutely hotties, completely in love, and were SO freaking fun to photograph!!

Between their very film inspired Pinterest board and all the Frank Sinatra on the cocktail hour playlist, Ally and Sam’s love and relationship feel so… TIMELESS. And I’m so happy I feel like their photos turned out that way too 🤩

Something else special about this sweet bride is that Ally and I actually met in an art class my last semester of college. Fast forward 4 years and Sam is a groomsman in a wedding I was shooting (at this same venue btw) and I saw him with Ally! She asked if I remembered her (and of course I did, she is the sweetest and listened to me rant about how much I loved my brand new husband every day we had class together). She told me that she’s wanted me to shoot her wedding for years 🥹🥹🥹 and her and Sam were hopefully gonna get engaged soon!

It was basically 5 minutes later (well maybe a few weeks) that these two got engaged and I am so thankful that they both chose to trust us to capture their wedding day through our eyes.

I could spend forever talking about how much I truly love these two friends and their special day!

Will you gush with me over how BEAUTIFUL they are????

Today is the day these ICONS 🌮🥂 get married and we couldn’t be more excited to capture their day 🙌

This weekend is a bit of a ✨finale✨ for us this wedding season. We still have a few more weddings before the end of the year but after this weekend, we will have shot our last full wedding day in 6 consecutive weeks including 3 double header weddings.

This was definitely a season I did not take my own advice on boundaries in booking and while we’re exhausted and the projects to edit are plentiful, we have absolutely loved serving each and every one of our clients. We are so blessed by each of them and even on the days that we’re exhausted, we still can’t believe we get to live this dream!

Sarita and Steven!! We’re excited for your dreams to come true today at what I’m sure will be a wedding day as iconic as the two of you!

Who is as excited as I am to see all details that come together for this wedding?? 😍😍

A wedding and couple that reminds us why we have this business in the first place 🥹

SYDNEY + JOSIAH

No vows have ever made me weep like theirs. Their guests? The kindest and most worshipful people. A gorgeous venue in the perfect Northern Arizona pines. And to make it all that much better, these two have become sweet friends to us.

All in all, it was a totally “pinch-me-how-is-this-my-life” kind of day and we weren’t even the ones getting married!

I’m honestly obsessed with their gallery and I’ve only edited the preview! Which photo is your fave??

Do you want to know what a wedding isn’t??

We recently heard a wedding described this way: “A wedding is not magic and doesn’t create anything that is not already there. It is an outward sign of an inward relationship”

Friend, this was not God’s design for marriage.

One of the reasons so many marriages end in divorce is because of ideas like this. A wedding day isn’t just a big party to celebrate your cute relationship (if it was, it would honestly be a waste of 10,000+ dollars and no one should do it). A marriage IS different from a dating relationship. When we treat it as the same thing, it means that ending a marriage is no different than ending a dating relationship.

The purpose of dating is to figure out if you’re both capable of entering into marriage together. Marriage is a promise to choose to love that person every day for the rest of your life, no matter what. But if nothing changes on your wedding day, then you do not have a strong enough foundation. If you’re now married and still think you are testing that person, that’s a problem.

So what IS a wedding supposed to be? Well, if you’re asking us, two people married for almost four years who are madly in love with each other and Jesus, we will tell you that a wedding is to celebrate a new covenant. Just like the new covenant we have with Christ; He loves us, He’s dies for us, there’s nothing that can separate us from the love of God.

A wedding day is the day that the relationship moves from two people who choose to love each other today… to two people who are promising to love each other every day for the rest of their lives. Marriage is a gift so we can have a tangible, daily example of the way Jesus loves us.

“Husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body.” Ephesians 5:28-30

As usual, we want to know what you think! Do you agree with us or you think we’re being too critical of this idea? Let’s chat about it in the comments!

Writing your own wedding vows?? 💾 SAVE this post 💾

Being a wedding photo and video team we have heard a LOT of beautiful vows! But we know how stressful it can be to write them yourself so we wanted to give you a few tips for you and your soon to be spouse:

1. Talk about if you want to have your own unique vows or if you want to have the same vows for each other that your write together (and yes, that is an option)

2. If you’re surprising each other with what you write, still discuss a few specific elements: overall tone (funny or sincere), length, etc.

3. Make real promises. Let me tell you a hard truth: you cannot honestly promise to make the other person happy all the time or promise that you will make them dinner every single night or never ever get annoyed with them… but you CAN promise that no matter what you to come up against (and you can list serious and funny examples) you will still choose to love them, in action, every day of your life.

4. Still not sure what to write or where to start? Take inspiration from traditional vows (in sickness and in health, etc. etc.) these vows have stood the test of time for a reason. They’re exactly what you should promise to each other, but you can take it further by customizing it to your fiancé and relationship!

5. Take some time to just encourage your fiancé at the alter; compliment them and uplift them. We really encourage you to describe them for more than just how they make you feel (because they won’t make you feel that way all the time) but describe their character and what you love about them as a person that is similar or different to yourself. Remember though that your vows are not a speech but a promise to one another so don’t spend too long in this section.

BONUS: Don’t wait till the last minute. I once helped a bride write her vows in the bridal suite before her ceremony; awesome story but a stressed out bride. Don’t do that to yourself!

Why don’t we make the comment section a place to help each other out? Write your favorite part of your own vows or what you would really like to be in your vows in the future!

P.s. HOW stinking sweet are these photo from Seth and Chessie’s private vows?? 😭😭

Last night we had these beauties over for dinner and got to show them their full wedding gallery in person! It was so fun to watch them ooo and awe over even just the details photos! This black and white was one of their favorites and I have to say SAME

It makes me want to meet up with all my couples in person to watch them look through their wedding gallery for the first time 😍 let me know if you’re down 🙈

I’m so thankful for the roles we got to play in Grant and Hannah’s wedding. Being in the wedding party meant we only got to capture the romantics (see above 😜) but we could totally trust to represent our business as the BEST associate shooter around 💪

I love our team and our community. Feeling very very blessed today.

Last engagement session of 2021 and it features a fast food date night in the bed of a pick up truck !!

We have THE most creative and fun clients that we’ve gotten to work with over the past year.

The excitement we have for 2022 is honestly indescribable. The clients, the weddings, the locations 😍

But really it’s the relationships we’ve been building with each of our couples that get us so excited for the work each day.

What are you most looking forward to in 2022??

You want to know an embarrassing story?? 🙈🙈🙈

When Karlie and Sean showed up to this shoot that had coordinated from her giveaway, I immediately started asking about their wedding and asking them when their date is and Karlie kindly pointed out… “aaaactually, you guys are shooting our wedding.” 💀☠️💀

YALL. My heart dropped! I couldn’t believe that I would FORGET one of my brides that I spend so much time emailing back and forth with and planning engagement session, and shot lists….

Welllll we quickly realized that Josh is doing film for their wedding so it made a little more sense that they didn’t come to mind right away (since we don’t do quite as much communication with our just film couples) plus the fact that Katie () had done all the communication for this shoot plus the only time I met Karlie was on a consult call/FaceTime while we were on vacation PLUS the fact that I had honestly just had a really draining weekend and was exhausted.

None of that mattered though, I was still REALLY embarrassed 🙈

Hope these photos made it up to you !! Y’all are the CUTEST and we’re so stoked to create the sweetest wedding video for you in April!!

Someone PLEASE share a recent embarrassing story with me in the comments! We can feel it together! 🤣

Nothing makes me happier at a wedding then seeing the couple make God’s name bigger than their own 🥰

He is Worthy.

So thankful I got to be here to capture a few of these precious moments as I second shot for last month.

The love these two had for each other, their families, and mostly Christ was evident and such a blessing to witness 🥰

What’s your favorite thing to see at a wedding?? (It can be funny, I love the funny moments too 🤣)

You are loved.

Everything about what we do is to make sure you KNOW those three words.

How on Earth could we know that’s true for you whether we know you well or even at all?

Because there is a God who created every part of the vast universe and every tiny part of you that stepped down from His thrown to live a life He didn’t have to and die a death He didn’t deserve.

There is no greater Love than this.

We get to go to so many awesome places and meet so many wonderful people because of this job and this life that we get to have. But none of it is worth it if we don’t get to share this with you along the way.

Authentic joy. Forever images. Well-loved people. YOU are loved.

Grant and Hannah did it right. So grateful we got to capture their proposal and that they were down to get soaked.

Grant has been one of our best friends for years and it’s been such a joy to watch him fall in love and propose to Hannah!

We’re so happy for them and so grateful we got to be a part of such an exciting day!

Stoked to finish the rest and for what’s to come for these two 🤍

A PHOTO YOU NEED TO GET ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

Every body loves a first kiss picture but my favorite is the SECOND ✌️ kiss picture!

I always tell my couples to stop at the end of the isle as they’re leaving their ceremony so they can have another big kiss!

I love that it gives us the opportunity to get another chance at that ceremony kiss plus a lot of couples do a dip or something creative at the end of the isle. No matter what, it’s always so happy! Aaaand I love that you get to see your guests around you, cheering you on in this photo!

What’s your favorite photo from your wedding day or a photo that you really want to be captured on your big day???

Forever grateful I got to capture this moment since I got to shoot alongside my girl,

How to build intimate moments with your love into your wedding timeline:

Write letters to each other to read in the morning: personally partial to this one. I wrote Josh 15 letters throughout our dating relationship, 1 on the morning of our wedding, and gave them all to him to read while he was getting ready at our venue.

First Look/First Touch: First looks are awesome because you get to have a really special moment just the two of you to shake off those pre-ceremony nerves and just be together. However, not everyone wants to see each other before the ceremony. Another great option is to do a first touch so y’all can hug with the groom’s back turned or even blindfold him. You could also hide behind a tree or the corner of a building and hold hands to pray together.

Sunset photos: when every second cousin is coming up to you while you’re trying to eat your dinner and you’re already feeling overwhelmed by the amount of people during your reception, take a walk with your new spouse and photo team to capture some moments together as the sun is going down. Even better, go off site for your romantics so you can get away :)

We believe that “intimate wedding” doesn’t just describe a micro-wedding but weddings that are filled with moments like these.

What are some other ways to get some special time with your new spouse on your wedding day??

What no one tells you about friendships after marriage:It can be really stinkin hard. It’s really common to hear single p...

What no one tells you about friendships after marriage:

It can be really stinkin hard.

It’s really common to hear single people express how hard it is to see all of their friends getting engaged and married but what you don’t often hear is married people sharing how hard it is to see their single friends hang out together, go on trips, or late night hangs and not be invited; even though that’s often the case.

What they don’t tell you is that after you get married, your single friends might assume that you don’t want to spend time with them as much, they may think you can’t possibly ever be lonely because you have a spouse, or they may not understand how much you need a friend that you’re not married to!

Let me say that this is not an attack on anyone nor is it to make you feel like a bad person if this describes you in any way. Sometimes, this is just how life works.

Mostly, it can feel hard because it wasn’t just your relationship with one person radically changed but the relationships you have with virtually everyone else in your life changed as well.

If you’re newly married and feel stuck in this season, please know that it’s just a season. We pretty much spent the whole first year of our marriage being the only ones in our close community who were married. We were madly in love but it was one of the loneliest seasons of my life. I felt like I lost a lot of friends and I didn’t want to make new ones. I wanted the ones I already had, the ones that were friends with us when we were dating and attended our wedding. But life changes and so do we.

Here’s the advice: make sure you’re inviting the same friends (no matter their relationship status) over for dinner or out to do the same things you’ve always done together. Join a married couples small group at your church; don’t be afraid to make new friends, it doesn’t mean you love your old friends any less. Remember, that some friends were just for a season of life, and while that’s sad, it’s okay too.

Did you experience loneliness after getting married? Are you surprised to hear that this is a common thing?

Getting married in the summer time?? This is what you need to do at your reception 👇

Plan a time after you’ve gotten to eat some food or the dance floor has started to fill up to step out with your photographer 15 minutes before the sun sets!

With the summer season comes later sunsets. And while we typically shoot almost all the romantics during cocktail hour/before your reception, during the summer it’s usually still really bright outside during that part of your day (assuming you’re eating dinner before 9pm).

So how do you get these warm and glowy golden hour photos? Let your guests enjoy the party without you for 15 minutes and get the dreamiest photos of your whole day!

I know you might not want to leave your guests during this time but I’ve NEVER had a couple regret it!

Everyone’s different though! What’s your biggest biggest priority for your wedding day? If you had to pick one: the photos 📸 or the party 💃??

The wedding where my jaw LIVED on the floor.

I was already so thankful that asked me to second shoot for her because she’s just one of my all time favorite people BUT THEN I found out that

1) it was the wedding was Tatum (formerly known as Landis)’s!! Who I got to know years ago and that’s stinking crazy!

2) they were getting married at the Meadow which is forever a fave

3) her colors and design for her wedding is literally what the inside of my brain looks like and I could cry.

But most importantly, this wedding was all about Jesus. I mean allll about Jesus. From the groom reading his Bible in solitude before the ceremony, to the communion and worship, to Tatum and Josiah sharing their first kiss together at the alter, to all the prayer that filled the whole day.

This wedding was obviously beautiful but it was beautiful in the way that matters most, it brought so much glory to Jesus.

Thank you again to Tatum and Jo and the freaking beautifully talented for having me there on the best day ever 🥰

Okay... someone tell me that I’m not the only one crying at these pics 😭

IT’S WEDDING DAY

We’re so excited to celebrate Amanda and Tyler today!

We’re gonna capture some forever images, laugh and dance, but mostly we’re gonna see God move.

It’s the greatest privilege to be a part of a day that not only celebrates two people joining together but also brings God glory in honoring HIM in their union.

Getting to know Amanda and Tyler these last few months, we know that this is exactly what today will be.

Praying for you both today, friends! We’ll see ya soon!

P.s. This wedding day will be the 5th wedding we’ve shot in 4 weeks and it’s a long one so pray for us 😂

This is your reminder to take a deep breath.

Whether you’re in the middle of planning your wedding or just trying to wrap up your work week. Pause for a second. Go ahead, we’ll wait....

Close your eyes, think of 3 things your grateful for, 1 thing your looking forward to, and 1 person you can pray for.

Listen, life goes by so fast. It’s easy to get caught up in the ‘gram, comparing yourself to beautiful people with beautiful lives.

Stay in your lane friend. Focus on what God’s got in front of you.

Okay. Take one more deep breath. Put Instagram down. Finish your day strong!

Before you go, tell us one thing ☝️ that you’re looking forward to!

THIS DAY WAS INCREDIBLE.

I’m so thankful that these two were so down to get completely soaked and sandy for these photos.

This styled shoot was really the best opportunity for my sweet friend, Toni, and I to really see what we could do. We took our heart and mission for serving the DIY bride at by creating this entire set up on our own. It was so fun to piece these things together from thrift stores and the decor at our house 😂 plus using some amazing details from our sweet wedding rental friends. Together, we made a day that was so incredibly fun and as always I’m incredibly blessed to be able to capture the love!

There’s more in my blog that I JUST posted so head to the link in my bio to check it out :)

Kaylyn and Joseph are a freaking dream!

We truthfully canNOT with their engagement photos. It’s overwhelming.

As stunning as these photos are and as gorgeous as their black tie wedding is going to be in January we love how seriously laid back these two are.

One day, they mutually decided they wanted to get married so they decided to buy a ring in the morning and then booked the venue the next day! I mean how cool is that!?

We had such an awesome time together shooting and quoting some of our fave movies which happened to be animated kids movies but it’s whatever 😂

We love this job and getting to build friendships with the couples we serve 💃

What is your favorite animated movie?? We love Storks and think that everyone needs to see it. Tell us your fave in the comments 👇👇👇

These photos right here are exactly why I don’t need or even want models in front of my camera.

I want REAL people in REAL relationships.

It doesn’t matter if you love the camera or not but if you adore the person you’re with.

I’m not here to make you look flawless or like something you’re not.

I want to capture you as you are.

Can I also just say that I 100% should have posted these yesterday 🤦‍♀️ I’ve never been to Ireland but standing in front of this cow pasture in Oregon somehow gives me those Irish vibes ☘️

Sometimes you can just tell when a person is home for another.

That’s what Tyler and Amanda are like. Every time I told them to look at each other they ended up kissing each other instead. Tyler LOVED to hug on Amanda or pick her up every time I asked him to. They laughed so much and you could just tell that they are home for each other.

This engagement session didn’t go entirely as planned but I seriously don’t think it could have gone better! Here’s how:

So first of all, the original location was closed due to the recent ice storms and then my dear, sweet clients thought their session was on a different day… oops 🙈 So, we regrouped two days later on a much sunnier Oregon day, planning on a different location. The first spot was where these two had one of their first dates and got stuck in the mud together (how stinking cute is that?!) but they still wanted to go somewhere that meant something to them so we went to this park and this place had it ALL. I mean seriously, swipe through these photos, these were all at ONE park! 😍

It’s little things like this that show me God’s got it figured out. From travesties to inconveniences, He works all things together. I know that’s true through heart break, new relationships, loss, and joy. I know what it’s like to look at my own life and marriage and job and think, “wow, God. If I had planned my own life it would not look as good as this.” I can just see that in these two!

Tyler and Amanda, we canNOT wait to capture your wedding day and see God move in your lives and marriage. See you in May, Lovebirds!
