- Festival of Lessons & Carols

- Christmas Dinner

- 1000 Luminary Walk

The Annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held at four in the afternoon. The reading of the Nativity Narrative from the King James Bible is accompanied by congregational carols and choral carols by Peter Warlock, David Willcocks, Stephen Cleobury, John Rutter, and others. Join us for this charming afternoon service which, for many, is the real start of the Christmas celebration.

Following the service, a festive Christmas dinner will be held in the Fellowship Hall. All are cordially invited to join us. You do need to reserve your seating if you plan to attend. This will be a catered meal of Turkey, Dressing, Mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetable medley, rolls, and dessert. There is no charge for this meal. Free offerings will be accepted. The deadline to RSVP is Wednesday, December 6 at noon.

Then after a beautiful program of music, and good food, and fellowship, enjoy a walk down Moss Avenue in the glow of nearly 1000 luminaries, hosted by the MBRA (Moss Bradley Residential Association.) This will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. also on December 10. Hot chocolate stations will be along the way. So, bundle up and come enjoy the GLOW of candlelight! If you are attending the Lessons and Carols and/or the Christmas dinner, please park in the parking lot and not in the street so all can enjoy the lights.

A prayer responding to war in Israel and Gaza
Lord, hear our prayers.

Eternal God,

You know our history of complicated conflicts, tense polarization, and situations so politicized that we are afraid to say or pray anything. Yet we know you grieve the violence of war and condemn acts of terrorism. We know you grieve the historical suffering of Jews and Palestinians. May our prayers for peace be uttered out loud for all to hear, our prayers for diplomacy, and for difficult, yet faithful conversation to resume.

God, we groan in grief over the news of this war in Israel and Gaza. Pave a path toward peace in this age-old, tragic conflict. Protect the innocent wherever bombs of destruction fall. Be with those who are captured and the families of those who are captured. Offer a way out for those who are trapped. Awaken us to our common humanity, our common human needs no matter the walls we build.

Amen.

We praise you, O God, for the life of your faithful servant Barnabas, who, seeking not his own renown but the well-being of your church, gave generously of his life and possessions for the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel. Grant that we may follow his example and by our actions give glory to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever - Amen.
