We’re very pleased to have Rich Sihilling, formerly known also as DJ Soulshaker, back to the Goodfoot. He visited us back in the post Covid close down still in a mask time. It’s nice to welcome him back. Rich has a long and varied musical past, a small bit of which intersected with Soul Stew DJ Brad. Read his origin story here, in a story about Rich, written by Brad, that appeared in the UK’s finest house music fanzine Faith.

And tomorrow night, Rich will be performing a live acid house as Dimension 23 in Bend, alongside LA DJ legends Doc Martin and Mr Koolaid!

Soul Stew is very excited to announce a visit from Rich Sihilling, sometimes known as DJ Soulshaker. Rich is the current custodian of Los Angeles’s The Bullet. The Bullet is a dance party with a long history dating back to the early 80’s, that features DJs and bands playing the best in soul, mod and garage.

Rich himself has a long musical history with mod roots, dating back to the early 80’s, and winding his way through LA clubland and the nascent rave scene there in the very early 90’s. And then spreading that up the coast. Performing as a dj then a live act, before returning to his mod roots and The Bullet. Rich and Soul Stew DJ Brad have a history that date back to that time in the early 90’s. Rich DJ’ed for us once in 2022, as we were still inching back to life after Covid. We welcome here back with things back in full swing.

Then on Saturday, Rich heads to Bend, to perform as Dimension 23, his long time live acid house alter ego.

Merry Early Doors on the Holiday! I recently unearthed an old Soul Stew mix of Eric and I from seven years ago yesterday. It was the night before the night before Christmas. So it includes some soul Xmas favorites like Back Door Santa and Santa Claus Is Going Straight To The Ghetto. But with plenty of non-Christmas songs, because really who wants that business non-stop. Add some soul to your holiday while keeping the Xmas folks happy.

We had a great time last night needing out and playing our favorite Aretha, Etta and Tina songs. It certainly wasn’t a contest, but we did keep track of how many songs by each we played. All night it stayed neck and neck. But the final scoreboard had Aretha and Etta tie with 19 each and Tina with 17. Lots of other honorable mentions like Nina Simone, Betty Harris, Candi Staton and more.

As you’ve likely seen us posting about, 2/3rd’s of the Soul Stew DJ’s will be out at this weekend for the amazing music festival. Including a very special Friday night Soul-Stew-Goes-To-Farm set Friday on the Windmill stage. After the on the Paddock Stage. Two hours, with in the middle, also on the Paddock stage. Our sets are 11-midnight and 1-2am. Look for us by the giant disco ball near the windmill.
Check out our other set times. Both Eric and Brad are in the Woods on Sunday night too.

Next weekend, you can find me at the farm. Look for me when it gets dark. Soul Stew sets Friday on the Windmill stage (with Say She She inbetween our sets on the Paddock stage), Picking up where I left off the night before with wonky, funky dancing on Saturday, back at the Windmill stage. Then playing the weekends funky leftovers Sunday in the Woods (with a possible slight set time change cooking there).
