You can sign up by the week to accommodate your schedule, or register for the whole session for a discount. Parent's Morning Out runs from 9:00am - 11:30am at Adventure Park, and we can flex schedule to align with Olentangy Kindergarten days off.

RecSchool Read-A-Louds 📚
Mondays @ 10AM starting 9/9
Adventure Park Recreation Facility
Please join Miss Jill to enjoy an open classroom experience in the RecSchool room at Adventure Park and a read-a-loud Monday mornings. Each week will include free play for caregivers and their littles with access to a variety of activities and equipment for the first 30 minutes. Then, we will clean up and gather for a 20-minute story time. Story time will include a read-a-loud of rich literature, nursery rhymes, finger plays, and movement songs. One of the best ways to encourage children to love and value reading and books is to actively participate in fun, engaging literature! We will conclude each week with bubbles and stamps for each friend. Join us to get the wiggles out, see our engaging classroom atmosphere, play with classroom toys, and enjoy stories and more with other children and their grown-ups.

We have so many fall offerings for you to keep your little one active as the summer comes to an end. We want to highlight two particular upcoming classes we are offering through the City of Powell Parks and Recreation.

This fall we are offering some of our Amazing Athletes and Superhero Bootcamp classes there for children ages 18months up to age 5!

Amazing Athletes classes will be held on Thursday nights either at 5:30p.m. or 6:00p.m. (depending on your child's age). The sessions will run September 12-October 17th. Superhero Bootcamp classes will be on Tuesday mornings, September 7-October 12th, at either 9:30a.m. or 10:00a.m. (depending on your child's age).

Our amazing RecSchool preschool program starts next week. Are you looking for a flexible, fun and affordable early childhood education program? RecSchool meets Tues/Thurs mornings and is a great stand alone program or a supplement to your existing enrollments. We can also work with Olentangy Kindergarten schedules.

Bring a yoga mat and water bottle to the Amphitheater and enjoy a free early morning session. The next class is this Sunday (9/1) at 7:30am.

As summer camp season comes to an end we wanted to take a moment to thank Shawn Melnick, a local resident and Eagle Scout from Troop 332. Shawn has been part of Powell Camp since he moved here in 2016 and transitioned to being a Junior Leader in 2022.

At the end of last summer, Shawn reached out with a proposal for his Eagle Scout project to design and rebuild Powell’s Safety Town. In early July Shawn unveiled his Safety Town buildings that represent many local Powell community establishments including: Liberty Township Powell Fire Station, Local Roots, Columbus Zoo & Aquarium/Zoombezi Bay, Post Office, Handel’s Ice Cream, Huli Huli, and Market District (Giant Eagle). The campers loved the new buildings, and staff appreciated their durability and stability.

We are grateful for Shawn’s commitment to the Powell Recreation Department and the success of Powell’s Safety Camp.

Register your 5-8 year old for Safety Camp 2025 to see Shawn’s Safety Town buildings in action. Safety Camp registration opens in April and is held for 3 days the week of July 4th.

Fall in love with the covered bridges of Union County!
We are excited to offer our first travel program for adults (50+). Join us as we adventure to see the covered bridges of Union County. We’ll have a tour guide who will share the history of each of the bridges and even have a catered boxed lunch with live music on one of these historic bridges. We’ll take breaks along the drive, and all costs are included in the trip fee.

We are excited to announce the second year of Powell RecSchool for the 2024-2025 school year!
RecSchool runs September through May, and is for friends ages 3-7 who are fully potty trained. RecSchool is located at the Adventure Park Recreation Facility (260 Adventure Park Drive).
Each class includes free play, circle time, arts and crafts, large muscle play, snack, and when the weather cooperates time outdoors. We cook with our friends on a regular basis, too!
RecSchool programming is an excellent supplement for preschool and kindergarten friends! We're happy to work with you to come up with a schedule that works for your family.

Kpop (Korean pop) = bubbly, bright, fun dancing for kids!
Learn dance basics, counting, choreography, coordination, and more - all set to Kpop music! Kpop is fun, happy, and wholesome music that is perfect for kids. This class consists of a warm-up, dance routine, and freestyle dance party at the end of each class. We will also learn a line dance and dance with pom poms, while fully immerse in Kpop for the entire 45 minutes. Parents will receive a playlist so kids can practice at home to songs that will quickly become their Kpop favs!

Powell RecSchool 2024/25 Registration is now open!

Powell Parks and Recreation offers two exceptional early education programs that run throughout the school year. Flexible scheduling, affordable, educational and fun!
RecSchool and Parent's Morning Out will incorporate school readiness through play to learn activities, and will focus on social-emotional learning, all while incorporating fun into everything we do. Each day will be 2.5 hours and include: free play, circle time, arts and crafts, snack, large muscle play, and when the weather cooperates time outdoors. We teach following the Orton-Gillingham method of instruction for letter and sound recognition with a strong emphasis on rich literature. Our teachers hold degrees in early childhood education and believe that children learn best through play.

This community-based drop-off program will be running the duration of the school year! We will have a fall session (September-December) and a spring session (January-May). Children enrolled in the fall session have first opportunity to register for spring session. We are a continuous enrollment program and welcome all young learners to Powell RecSchool at any time!

RecSchool programming is an awesome supplement for preschool and kindergarteners, we're happy to work with your family to come up with a flexible schedule that can include a combination of RecSchool on Tuesdays & Thursdays and Parents’ Morning Out on Wednesdays.
