Last Wednesday, October 23rd, FOUR Eastman School of Music vocalists sang songs by Mahler with the Eastman Philharmonia in Kodak Hall under the baton of the incredible Anthony Parnther!

Mezzo-soprano Emily Kondrat, soprano Alanna Beilke, baritone Logan Dubner, and tenor Benjamin Krutsch performed songs from Mahler's Das Lied von Der Erde, Des Knaben Wunderhorn, and Alma's Mahler Sieben Lieder. Bravi tutti!

Here is the exciting 2024-25 operatic and concert schedule for Eastman School of Music alum, tenor, Travon Walker, already underway. Congratulations, Friends of Eastman Opera is so proud!

Travon earned a BM '21 at Eastman while in the voice studio of Dr. Jonathan Retzlaff. Memorable Eastman Opera Theatre roles for him include The Reader in Tibetan Book of the Dead (fall 2018), Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd (Spring 2020 // Covid cancelation), and Dan Leno in Elizabeth Cree (spring 2021). Travon is currently with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in the Ryan Opera Center. Bravo!

Congratulations on your first Gretel, Laura Corina Sanders, Soprano!

The first professional opera I ever saw was Hansel and Gretel at San Francisco Opera, at age 8. I knew immediately I wanted to pursue opera as a career. My first principal role in an opera was the Dew Fairy, at age 17 at Cañada College. I will be forever grateful to Scott Wright at Mobile Opera for bringing me full circle and giving me the chance to perform my first Gretel. I feel so much gratitude to this company, this cast, and my family for all the support and encouragement I received for this delightful production.

The fall performance schedule for Eastman School of Music soprano Alanna Beilke begins this Wednesday, October 23rd, at 7:30 pm in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theater with the Eastman Philharmonia performing Mahler. Just over a week later, Alanna will perform the role of Esther in the 2024 Eastman Opera Theatre (EOT) "Winter cast" production of the new opera, Silent Light. Dates posted. Soprano, Alanna Beilke is a candidate for BM '25 (Senior Recital date posted) at Eastman in the voice studio of Kathryn Cowdrick. In the 2023-24 season of EOT, Alanna was the cover for the role of Primadonna (Ariadne auf Naxos-Prologue by Strauss) and performed the role of Sister Catherine (Dialogues des Carmélites by Poulenc.) Brava!
