Agilent Technologies Discusses Industry and Helium Leak Detector Technology at SDTES
Featuring: Bartly Carlson, application engineer at Agilent Technologies.
Q1: Could you tell us a little bit about Agilent and what the company does?
- Agilent Technologies is an analytical corporation making anything from atomic spectroscopy to mass spectroscopy, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and our division specializes in vacuum technology creating vacuum and vacuum chambers and different types of environments. Here today we have a mass spectrometer leak detector which detects helium which can be used in multiple environments. Whether its the semi conductor industry, medical industry, heavy industry, food processing, and automotive. It is used in multiple applications and there is nothing that you have personally that has not been leaked checked with one of our leak detectors.
Q2: What sets Agilent Technologies apart from the competitors in the helium detector market?
- We were the first in the market way back when we were Varian & Associates (back in 1940's and 1950's). We developed most of the leak detectors and leak detection applications. Everyone else stemmed from us. We are the root cause and root designers of helium leak detection and we've been on the leading front ever since. Today we are modeling our newer mass spectrometer helium leak detector which has new gooey interface, smaller, sleek design, and this is a dry model meaning we are not using hydrocarbons or oils inside the unit to help create the vacuum which allows you, the processor, to have a completely 100% hydrocarbon-free environment.
