Two beauties hiding in their rows today. A perfect white carnation and a perfectly white lisianthus. Carnations have gotten such a bad wrap but i promise if you grow them you will fall in love. the scent is divine and you can use them as edible flowers or string them in the seeetest garlands.

Hard frost is coming soon. I'm telling all the sleepy bees that they need to get to their cozy homes instead of staying overnight in the flowers. The season is going to shut down in a snap. I keep trying to pull out the beds but i can't bear to remove these last food sources from the foragers. I keep coming up against the reasons I do this and what I'm supposed to do to ensure the best growing season for the following year. I've given October to the bees instead.

Following bees around in the dahlias got some silly and wonderful photos. They were quite the distraction for me while harvesting indigo before the coming frost.

It's been a few years since i've had a row of cosmos. Like all else on the farm this year, these went in late and i had low expectations. To my delight, they have come on suddenly and strong. Beautiful long stems, the palest pinks to raspberry lemonade hues to the traditional purpley-pink cosmos tone. A lot of saved seed in here so i'm getting beautiful and unusual flower petaling as well, making it even more fun to harvest them. 🤍
