In a nail-biter show jumping CCI4*-L finalé, California newcomer Alexandra MacLeod, VMD, and Newmarket Jack splashed onto the West Coast eventing scene by winning in their debut in the level. They entered show jumping sitting third, behind local favorites Tamie Smith and James Alliston, who both had two rails: with superstars Fleeceworks Royal and Paper Jam, respectively. Alex brings a lot of experience from her native East Coast, where she worked with Phillip Dutton for several years. Rather amazingly, she juggles this level of competing with being an equine veterinarian. What will Newmarket Jack get as a victory treat? "A lot of time off and time to be a horse," said Alex. "I think that's always the best thing."
2* dressage is a wrap with this last of 35 rides: Maeson Messmer and Gambling On Jack.
