We are SO appreciative of our teachers here at The Gardens at Heather Farm. From Pre-K, to Middle School- they do it all! Bringing engaging science curriculum into classrooms, leading homeschool and local school field trips is so important for continuing the education of our planet, conservation, eco system and wildlife to our youth. THANK YOU TEACHERS! When school lets out, we know the place for you to relax-here in the gardens!

In this class you will learn the mechanics to create a “topiary” floral arrangement. You will create a tulip topiary embellished with lemons and berries in a classic blue and white cachepot. We will discuss how using seasonal materials, this design can be adapted for any time of the year. Our cherished Climate Discovery Garden was showcased recently during the Waterwise Tour. Installed in 2022, it has quickly grown into a lush demonstration of a climate-resilient garden comprised primarily of plants native to our area.

The garden was alive with vibrant blooms such as Foothill Penstemon (Penstemon heterophyllus ‘Blue Spring’), Eleanor Monkeyflower (Diplacus ‘Eleanor’), and Red Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii ‘Red’). A hometeam favorite at The Gardens is a particularly lovely display of Yerba Buena (Clinopodium douglasii), Pink-flowering Currant (Ribes sanguineum ‘Claremont’), and Island Alum Root (Heuchera maxima).

The Climate Discovery Garden was made possible thanks to generous funding from Central Garden & Pet, the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust, and a dedicated committee of landscape professionals. The seeds of their contributions have blossomed into a beautiful garden that springs to life this time of year. We invite you to stroll the garden, learn about what a climate-friendly garden can look like, and become inspired to bring these ideas into home gardens.
