🚨 📢 Queen Announcement 📢🚨

As most of you have seen, the Queen was not uncovered last Thursday. Because she has to be found before we close, this Thursday will be run differently if she's not revealed on the first pull.

The first drawing will take place at 8:15. You do NOT have to be present for the first draw. Tickets can be purchased anytime before this. If the Queen is not found, the person whose ticket was pulled will still receive the $25, all tickets will be disposed of, and tickets for round 2 will be sold. We will have up to six rounds.

For rounds two through six, YOU MUST BE PRESENT to play. Tickets will be sold at $5.00 for six tickets. Single tickets will not be available. The jackpot numbers will be updated before each draw.

Jokers will not flip the board. We will only pay the $25 for the ticket picked or the 10% for jokers and queens for the first round. Rounds two through six are only to find the Queen.

All tickets for rounds two through six will be put into a separate container rather than thrown away. If the Queen is not found with round six, there will be a drawdown until she is.

We want to thank you all for playing and making our Thursdays so much fun!

We have some news to share, folks, so please take a few moments to read the announcements below.

As of Friday, September 1st, VFW Post 5040 will be temporarily relocating to the Dorr Township Assembly Room at 1039 Lake Avenue in Woodstock. Post meetings will continue to be held the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

While the Post will be relocating, it is with tremendous regret that we inform you that our bar/canteen will be permanently closing. We would like to extend an invitation to the public - members and non-members alike - to join us at our current location (240 N. Throop Street, Woodstock) in sharing pictures, memories, and stories immortalizing our post's rich and vibrant history on SATURDAY, AUGUST 26th, beginning at 2:30 p.m. And, while this event does recognize a somber occasion, we intend, in our usual Post 5040 fashion, to bid farewell to our canteen with a bang! Please join us for music, drinks, raffles, prizes, dancing, laughter - and yes, tears - and if you're so inclined, please bring a covered dish to share. THIS WILL BE OUR LAST DAY FOR RECEIVING PATRONS.

Our final Fish FRYday will be this Friday, August 11th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We wish to extend a huge THANK YOU to Cecilio, Chilo's Mexican Grill, and all the folks that have helped revive and make successful our weekly fish fry.

Regarding QUEEN OF HEARTS:

If we don't have a winner before then, we WILL have a Queen of Hearts winner take home the jackpot on THURSDAY, AUGUST 24th. Per usual, the first person to have his/her ticket drawn on the 24th will win $25 plus the first shot at uncovering the Queen of Hearts. If the Queen isn't found, we will draw tickets until she is. Tickets for the drawing on the 24th will be sold following our drawing on the 17th. The current jackpot nets you over $1300.00 and will only climb until we find a winner, so please be sure to get your tickets from any bartender on our regular business days (Wednesday thru Sunday). Further details about our final drawing will be provided as we near the date, but WINNER MUST BE PRESENT FOR THE FINAL DRAWING.

If you can't join us on the 26th, we do hope to see you before then. We'll be offering drink specials all month, so please stop in and see us! We're open Wednesday through Sunday, and as always, we are open to the public!

Thank you, everyone, for your service, your patronage, your support, and your love. This has been, to say the least, a journey full of memories we'll hold onto forever.

Hi! My name is Peg. I’m the Sunday bartender. I have been at the VFW for approximately 2 years. Sundays you will find sports on the TVs. Nascar, Football, Baseball and others when requested!

I love being around people so you can find me volunteering for the Opera House, Woodstock Rotary, and the City of Woodstock. I like putting together craft/vendor shows with proceeds going to a organization in the area.
