Aubrey and Danny introduced us to a Scottish tradition known as the Oathing Stone, which offers a fascinating glimpse into history and possibly the origin of the saying "Set in Stone." This ancient custom carries deep meaning as a symbol of trust, loyalty, and commitment between a couple. During their wedding ceremony, Aubrey and Danny held an Oathing Stone in their hands while reciting their vows. Typically, the Oathing Stone is a smooth and polished rock, often engraved with the couple's names or initials and their wedding date. It can either be a treasured family heirloom passed down through generations or a stone specifically chosen for this purpose. As the couple exchanged their vows, they placed their hands upon the Oathing Stone, reinforcing their promises to one another. The stone serves as a tangible representation of their commitment, solidifying their bond and creating a lasting connection.
Sharon Barwick, with great passion, guided everyone through the story of how Aubrey and Danny met and fell in love during the ceremony.
