To celebrate the release of JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX we're delighted to host an exhibition of the remarkable local artist 's dazzling film-inspired collections, featuring works created from our very seats during our recent DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY screening and, in anticipation of our upcoming Halloween programme, a series of pieces inspired by Brian De Palma's CARRIE.

"Vanessa Lawrence works from observation in response to the worlds of ballet, opera,
fashion and film. Her dynamic drawings brim with excitement and drama, evoking worlds
of illusion and make believe, all seen with a keen and empathetic female gaze. Working predominantly in pastel, she endeavours to capture dynamic movement and
performance, with liminal narratives of mythology and folklore.

The darkened cinema, back row seat and cup holder for art materials, became her
impromptu studio.

This exhibition is a celebration of Picture Houses’ dedication to diverse and eclectic
screenings across the year."

So swing by the Duke's bar before tonight's 8pm Folie A Deux screening to check out this amazing collection and meet Vanessa, who will be hosting drinks, discussing her work and chatting all things film!
