Hello All - Hope you have had a great summer! We certainly have.. I have great pleasure in inviting you once again to The Angel Bar & Grill which has recently re-opened under new management! (Neil & Becs) ..

We are so happy to be restarting our regular FLYING PIG OPEN MIC sessions on Sunday 15th September - and thereafter every other Sunday...

It will be good to have a good turnout of old and new faces... a warm welcome awaits

IMPORTANT

As Confirmed on Sunday: The Angel Bar & Grills Current Landlord has decided to vacate the Premises- So the Open Mic will be in an temporary hiatus. We enjoyed our times at the Angel and the friends we have made along the way, and the many musical memories made. Fun times!

This isn’t the first time this has happened, so we are very hopeful we can carry on where we left off soon! Somewhere! We will take some time out and then will be making a plan …You will be the first to know.. in the meantime we will support all those GREAT open mics around us , and perhaps we will post some stuff via the virtual open mic page …Keeping music Live !

Thanks to everyone who made last night another great one…
Perhaps it was the

Perfect weather
The open air terrace seating
The choice of songs
The banter
The excellent quality sets
Seeing some old friends join us to perform first time for a while
Nice refreshments

All of the above i guess!

BTW the winning decade from our theme was indeed the 70s … pipping the 1960s by
A head

And just as we thought Terry snatched victory for the 60’s right at the end of night with the animals’house of the rising sun (1963)’ (Which suprised me as I thought it was 70s….)

However how wrong was I - defeat was snatched out of the jaws of victory as we were swiftly reminded that the song was first recorded in 1933 by folk artist Clarence Ashley!

Anyway thanks again.. same again on 3/6/24 !
