Welcome to Castle House

Castle House is located within the beautiful and historic county town of Hertford, Hertfordshire. It is a Grade II listed and of mixed era styles, and a unique and visually attractive building. The original four storey section was built in the 1700’s as a home for the citizens of the area, by a local philanthropist. Our main bar as it stands now was added on in the late 18

00’s as a ballroom for the residing family of the time. Our new ballroom was added recently in 2006 by the current owner, which is built over what was part of the back garden. Once through the beautiful oak arched door, you are greeted with a warm and inviting entrance hallway. There is an open plan feel to the main areas, which can also be sectioned into separate spaces for private events. Castle House is the perfect setting for many different types of celebrations, parties, and meetings, and is ideal for when a more lively and local town location is preferred. Whatever your dream theme or style may be, we will endeavour to help make your event wonderful and special.

Castle House is situated between two of Hertford's train stations - Hertford East and Hertford North and is less than a 10 minute walk to either - taking you straight into London, Cambridge or along to the next town. Buses stop nearby and run every 5 minutes from Mon to Saturday between 6:30am–11:30pm.

General information

Castle House is a unique venue in Hertford. It is the perfect setting for a wedding and is available to hire. Alternatively, it's a great place to rock up for a drink, and sample our selection of craft ales. We also have a restaurant with a selected seasonal menu, and also have a private dining experience available. Upstairs is our members club, where our members can kick back and relax and enjoy the service the Castle House has on offer.
