The boys got some Happy Ice last night & the smell of the flavorings took me back to the days of the Snow Shack (was that the name?) that used to be in the Magic Mart parking lot back in the day. Where are my Abingdon people who remember that? Those were such good memories from such a simple thing my family did when I was a kid. So my kids got one of those, "back in the day" stories last night 🤣 I hope you all are creating those simple memories with your loved ones that last a lifetime ❤️

Hey! It's me, Kristina, just down here in the floor making a bridal bouquet because I don't have a proper mirror hanging on the wall 😅. I like making a bouquet in front of the mirror to see what it's going to look like when it's being carried, but I also like to add a little something special for the bride from her view. White dahlias & lisianthus made for a lovely bouquet for a beautiful bride! A mirror is definitely going on my Wal Mart list 🤪.

I was trying to describe to someone my flower style today & I described it as "garden". I took floral design courses back in the day, but sometimes using all homegrown flowers lends better to a more free range style 😂. I can do more traditional work as well. If you have a wedding, event or just need a daily arrangement, I'd be happy to talk with you about it. I forget to make my own bouquets most of the time, but when I do they sure brighten up my home! I see these flowers every day & I'm sometimes overwhelmed with the picking & arranging & ones looking at me from the field needing to be picked, but put them in a vase & I remember why I wanted to grow them in the first place ❤️.

Flowers are restocked in Market on Main for your weekend! You'll find I've put them in pickle jars, spaghetti sauce jars, or just about any jar I've saved. I love reusing these instead of putting them in the trash & hope you find them helpful to get your flowers home more easily in some water! Remember if you keep the water changed out & trim the stems they'll last longer. And if you want to return the jar I'll reuse them again! 💐

Anybody who knows me, knows I'm a Hokie through & through. I have a child who's dream in life is to be a marching Virginian in a few years & I'm likely gonna be reprimanded for this post 😅, but my flowers are screaming GBO! I guess given the state of Hokie football at the moment, we might as well cheer on our Vols friends & offer some Vols themed arrangements 😃. I'll have a few available this week. Also, I have to brag for a minute on my marching Falcon because I'M SO PROUD OF HER!

You realize you've geeked out over flowers your entire life when you are thinking about your favorite designer as a kid. Growing up in a Baptist church you go to many many funerals. I can remember looking at all the arrangements & having that favorite designer I could pick out in the crowd. Then one day I'm growing my own flowers & she's in my "studio/ floral shop", aka my basement, telling me to USE ALL THE COLORS! First of all, I felt like I had a celebrity in my basement, secondly, I think of this & USE ALL THE COLORS! 🤣

Wedding day was a challenge with ALL THE RAIN, but I think everything turned out beautifully. We only got a little wet during the ceremony 😁. The rain moved out & we had a lovely evening celebrating with family & friends. Check out these beautiful photos!

Zinnias are such a fun cut flower & so easy for the home gardener! My mom always put a row of zinnias & cosmos on the edge of her vegetable garden to have fresh flowers on the table. Even as a kid I loved being able to bring a bouquet of flowers in to enjoy. Most all cut flowers have an optimal time to be cut for maximum vase life. Zinnias need to be fully ripe in order to take on water in the vase. When they are harvested correctly they should last a week or longer. To know the right time to cut, use the "wiggle" test. I'm showing here one bloom that is still "wiggly" versus the second bloom with the sturdy stem. You want the sturdy stem bloom to get the longest lasting vase life. 😉💐
