Sunday's storm shut us down early so we have some sausage, salami, & cheese left. If you are interested in purchasing them at the wholesale price, Ron Rosa will be at the Potenza Lodge (38th & Shoshone) today from 11:30 am till noon. You do not have to be a lodge member.

In North Denver, summer is over after St. Rocco's Feast. Winter is right around the corner, grazie a Dio. ❄️

Many potentini settled in North Denver during the Great Migration. They founded la Società Nativi di Potenza in 1899. The purpose was to help fellow potentini navigate their new country.

Denver's Feast of St. Rocco dates back to 1892 when the Jesuits at Regis University hosted it. Eventually, it became too big for them and they asked Potenza Lodge to take it over. The rest is history.

While the feast is similar to Mt. Carmel's, one thing is unique: the bidding before the procession. Families bid for the honor to carry St. Rocco and Potenza donates all the proceeds to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Catholic Church. The only time this didn't happen was during COVID. Potenza had canceled the feast, but Mt. Carmel still held a small procession and donated the proceeds back to Potenza Lodge. Every Italian organization in existence should take its cue from Mt. Carmel & Potenza's relationship.
