The term “publication” has a very border meaning. From publishing newspapers, magazines, books, scientific journals to typography, postscript, or the CMYK colour module, it covers a vast area. By definition, it is to display one’s work to public by means of any device or process that not necessarily have to be just printed copies. In fact it includes every state-of-art device of present time; and for this very reason, to master the art of publication, one needs to master lots of different disciplines. Nevertheless, it is the fundamental principles of printing, which were developed over thousand years that rule it all. In this course we are going to learn them.

The Art of Publication is an advanced level course form the Department of Art & Photography. This course requires advance enrolment. It is highly recommended that you book your position in the course as earliest as you can, or pay for the whole year up-front.

From analysing the beauty in an art form to interpreting it, aesthetic has been playing the key role as it's guiding principle. It determines what our viewers will feel when they look at an art, and in photography that represents various visual qualities. Whether it's purely subjective or showcasing it's true objective value while compositing a single frame, the concept of aesthetic is there to define it. The ability to see it in every single element, in different tones and contrast, in color or in different shades of greys, in textures and in patterns, and even what you include or exclude in that rectangular frame, it all comes down to the aesthetic of a photograph and based on that aesthetic the choices you make in your composition. The first year of our B.F.A. in Photojournalism aims to consolidate acquiring knowledge and getting introduced to photojournalism, its historical context, major practitioners, and the methodologies it has used. Students will study camera, lenses, and their personalities, master different standard and style of photography and learn to see the beauty, unity, and harmony for creating creative composition. For presenting their work with confidence, non-native English speakers will learn to express different fabrics of time, how to write clearly and concisely, as well as practice to become fluent in English for presentation. Upon completing the five fundamental English courses they will start learning basics of creative writing together with native English speakers.
