Today has been a great reminder of the beauty, and the headache, of Oregon weather. From bursting sunshine to complete downpours, you truly never know what your special day might look like until you're actually living it.

Summer weddings are all the rage, but can we please take a minute to swoon over the cozy, intimate, romantic vibes that was this amazing winter wedding?!

Some of the details we absolutely loved were: a glass of champagne for guests as they arrived the couple walking down the aisle together warm mood lighting and tons of candles instead of favors, each guest received a token to drop into a jar of their choice, labeled with a nonprofit that the couple would make a donation to fun, laid back vibes, yet black tie affair and so many more memorable takeaways that, maybe, we'll dive into another day

We share a lot of wedding content around here, because it seems like that's what you all like the most. But these photos from a recent corporate event just dropped in our inbox and it gave me goosebumps!

Not too long ago, a friend asked us, what should be, a pretty easy question to answer about our business:

"What really sets you apart as a venue?"

And while I sat there and thought, well, there's a few things that make us different than a lot of venues in Portland:

- We allow our clients to work with anyone they'd like (especially their own caterer) 🍲
- We almost always manage the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and linens (and we actually prefer it if you LET us do this) 💪
- We're not very strict about your decor; candles are allowed, you can hang things from our ceilings and windows, plus if you want your pets to join the party, we'd absolutely love to have them 🐶

BUT! None of this is what came to mind as what REALLY sets us apart as a venue. And sometimes it's hard to talk about what we're really good at, because we don't want to sound like we're bragging, or that we think we're better than anyone else, because we're not.

So now you might ask yourself, what DOES make Easton Broad truly different from the rest?

Well, it's pretty simple actually:

We have one of the best bar programs in the industry! We don't just "make drinks" and "pour beer", but we listen to what YOU want and we curate a menu based on your taste, style, and budget. If you need a dark purple drink to match your masquerade-themed fundraiser, then yeah, that's exactly what you're going to get!

There is absolutely zero- zilch- nada- percent chance that we will ever hire "Joe Schmoe" off of craiglist because we need more hands for an event. We guarantee that the staff working behind our bar has been in the industry for years and they are vetted to our very high (and quite picky) standards.

We use fresh ingredients, which means what we can make throughout the year will likely change with the seasons. But if you're looking for some tried and true classic cocktails, we will absolutely ensure they exceed your expectations.

We hear it regularly by our clients and their guests: "This is the best cocktail I've ever tasted!"

Why this wedding trend should become a wedding standard:

Have you noticed that, since the pandemic, weddings are becoming a little smaller, a little more intimate, a little more... intentional? Well, if it isn't a change that's here to stay, we're going to fight for it forever!

Because when you have a wedding with only your closest friends and family, you're going to have memories like these photos depict. No dry eyes in the room. No dull moments throughout the day. Dare we say... no drama?! Just pure, genuine love from your nearest and dearest. Because they've been by your side through thick and thin, for years on end, and all they want is to help you celebrate the love that you've found.

And who honestly wants their third cousin, who you met when you were 9 months old, sitting at the same table as your parents' bosses, who you were forced to meet... the day of your wedding? Put yourself in their shoes; what the F are they going to talk about for at least an hour during dinner?!

We digress... 😅

So if intimate, intentional weddings are only a short-lived trend, then we'll go against the grain to continue to tell you that there's nothing more traditional or classic about this kind of wedding. And if you're on the fence about going this direction, we'd love to share some of our favorite wedding vendors who can help you make a seriously epic wedding come to life.

Most of our industry considers this time of year to be the off season. And while it's usually slower for actual event ex*****on, this is the season to prepare for the "on" season, start and finish projects that get delayed during the busier months, refresh our inventory, do some deep cleaning, consult with current and potential clients, and the list goes on. This is what we like to call the "busy work" season.

So while you may not see us posting so much about the events we have going on, just know, our current project list consists of:
A brand new website coming soon 🎉 Creating a build-your-own price quote with aaaallll the fun add ons Taxes. Til death do us part 💀 Painting our bathrooms to add a little extra "s*x appeal" (peep our stories if you want a say!) Dusting, scrubbing, polishing, and cleaning every surface to keep this place sparkling clean ✨ Vendor meetups to remind ourselves that we're not alone in this crazy industry, and to continuously meet new people Photoshoots to keep the creative juices flowing (hit us up if you want to plan one!) Last night we had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of and it made me think of our own celebration last year. But before I dive in, if you haven't heard of this new venue in downtown Portland, you absolutely need to check it out!

But what I really want to share is how frickin' amazing the wedding and events industry is here. The owner of couldn't have said it any better last night, in that we work in the trenches together, in what is considered one of the most stressful industries in the world. And when things get tough, we're there to pull each other out of the mud and we push each other to reach to new limits.

Our industry is ever evolving so we all have to stay on our toes and change with the times. And c0vid was one of the worst times to work in weddings and events, BUT it also completely changed people's outlook on how they run their business. In a very competitive market, many of us event industry business owners now rely on our competition to support us, and ultimately, they're friends.

We feel confident that we can refer clients to our competition when we're booked or just not the right fit for their needs, because we know those businesses are going to refer back to us when things don't align for them as well. And if that's not a community you want to be apart of, then I don't think you belong in the Portland market for weddings and events. Because this community is TIGHT and we have each other's backs.

So if you're still here reading my little Ted Talk, I just have to give a huge shoutout to all of the incredibly talented people in this industry, especially to those who have supported us and cheered us on to get us where we are today. THANK YOU!

It should be a day full of quirks that showcase who you two are.
Your personalities should shine through every detail that goes into the making of the day.
Don't be afraid to do something you've never seen done before.

Intentional weddings are SO meaningful. And if you ever find yourself falling into a Pinterest hole that just doesn't hit home, we suggest turning to inspiration outside of the "wedding world". Find scenery, textures, patterns, and moments that spark happiness, and start incorporating those details into the design of your day (and don't forget to talk to your vendors, because each of them probably has an amazing way to help execute your vision).
