As much as I love capturing epic portraits of couples on their wedding day, my personal favorite images are those real moments that tell a simple story or capture a behind-the-scenes element of the day. They may not be the most perfect images with the best lighting or clean framing, but that's not really the point. It's more about capturing the feeling of the day. Here we have Gordon making a comical attempt to sneak past his bride, Andrea, without her seeing him with the clothes that he had forgotten in her room while she was having her makeup done. I love how this image captures their dynamic and personalities by finding the humor in eschewing normal wedding tradition and convention. These kinds of moments for me are diamonds in the rough, as they are fleeting and require constant attention to capture. It's kind of like playing Tetris with the pieces zipping by, and adjusting settings and angles is like changing the orientation of the blocks. Sometimes you mess up the orientation or miss the moment, just missing the perfect placement. Other times you nail the rotation and slot the piece in perfectly and you clear five lines. Nailing a moment kind of feels like that.
