Meet Nikeisah Newton, owner of Meals 4 Heels πŸ‘

Nikeisah founded the business in 2019, at first functioning only as a mobile catering service delivering to s*x workers. In 2020, when the pandemic resulted in clubs shutting down, Nikeisah began catering at Black Lives Matter protests and events throughout Portland.

Her food began to catch people’s attention and in 2022, thanks to popular demand, Nikeisah opened the Meals 4 Heels brick-and-mortar location while continuing her meal deliveries on the side.

While you're here, drop some love in the comments for Meals 4 Heels and Nikeisah πŸ’•

This day’s history goes back to 2001, when over 25,000 s*x workers gathered in India for a festival despite efforts from prohibitionist groups who tried to prevent it taking place by pressuring the government to revoke their permit. The event was organised by Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee, a Calcutta based group that has over 50,000 s*x worker members, and members of their communities. S*x worker groups across the world have subsequently celebrated 3rd March as an annual, international event, as International S*x Workers’ Rights Day.

True Power is Growing Your Own Food

Our mission is to ignite BIPOC communities to be owners, placemakers and food systems leaders. This means sharing the knowledge and the resources we need to be self sustaining & to create a life of abundance - where we don’t rely on systems that were designed to exploit us.

Together we can heal our relationship with nature, grow our own food, feed our families & create a better future for our people.

If you want to know more about us or learn about how to get involved please visit our website www.blackfoodnw.org or drop us a line in the DMs.

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆLets get the community informed & keep them safe!πŸ¦„

β€œThere is currently a lot of misinformation that is already proving harmful to LGBTQIA2S+ people and we are taking a proactive approach to ensure that our community is respected and protected.”

Below, please find a list of facts, considerations and preventive measures that you can utilize to best protect yourself from an hMPXV virus transmission:

βœ…If you have skin, you are at risk. Plain and simple, skin to skin contact with the rash/sores of an individual with the hMPXV virus is the highest known transmission risk factor. hMPXV also spreads through large respiratory droplets as communicated through coughing/sneezing and talking closely.
hMPXV symptoms include:
β€’ Fever
β€’ Muscle aches
β€’ Chills
β€’ Headache
β€’ Swollen lymph nodes
β€’ Fatigue
β€’ A rash that starts with pimple-like bumps and evolves into pus-filled lesions
β€’Consider behaviors that put you at risk, understanding that some occur in our day-to-day activities.

βœ…This could include but is not limited to:
β€’ public transportation seats and handholds
β€’ public gym equipment
β€’ dance clubs
β€’ handrails in public staircases
β€’ other publicly shared spaces and surfaces

β€’Consider a PPE plan

β€’If you are a s*x worker, full-service or otherwise, please reference this site for safety and screening resources. This is also a good resource for people in the kink and B**M communities.

β€’Vaccine allotments have been limited and are not yet widely available. As these resources are made more accessible, LGBTQ2SIA+ serving organizations like Equi Institute, Pride Northwest and Q Center will work to create accessible vaccine clinics, including working with ally organizations throughout the Portland metro area, to avoid barriers caused by geographic location.

Why S*x Work should be decriminalized
πŸ’…πŸ½πŸ‘ πŸ’…πŸ½πŸ‘ πŸ’…πŸ½πŸ‘ πŸ’…πŸ½πŸ‘

S*x workers deserve the same
legal protections as anybody else. They should be able to
maintain their livelihood without
fear of violence or arrest, access
health care and other services without discrimination, and seek justice when they are harmed.

Decriminalization would help
bring s*x workers out of the dangerous margins and into the
light where people are protected
- not targeted - by the law.

Do you agree? Do you disagree?
