The 2024 Utah Arts Festival was infused with great energy and immense talent. From the return of street theater, to the more than 100 live performances across six stages, the show-stopping work of our Urban artists and the 180 visual artists whose booths filled the grounds, this year’s Utah Arts Festival was vibrant, unique, and showcased the best our community has to offer.

While we are incredibly proud of the programming and quality of the event we presented this year, we unfortunately did not get the number of people we expected to attend, impacting related revenue and resulting in a financial shortfall that requires immediate action and additional support from the community that we aim to serve.

That said, when things don’t go quite as you plan them, it opens up possibilities for innovation. Our immediate focus is to resolve the current financial shortfall while also taking the opportunity to envision a new future for the Utah Arts Festival that best meets the needs and interests of our community and better reflects new trends in attendance, revenue, and expenses.

As we look toward returning with the Festival in 2025 and work toward celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2026, we invite you to participate in our efforts to balance and evolve by providing feedback using our online form, and by making a financial contribution to ensure we can continue to meet our mission to support artists and make art in its many inspiring forms available and accessible to everyone in our community.

The Kids Art Yard at this year’s Festival was a hub of creativity and fun! Our young artists got their hands dirty with activities inspired by the Great Salt Lake, including making paper plate seagulls, creating colorful brine shrimp flags, and folding origami pelicans. A huge thank you to all the families, volunteers, and community partners who made it magical.

The annual Utah Arts Festival magically appears each summer in downtown Salt Lake City. The temporary nature of turning Washington & Library Squares and the surrounding streets into a community gathering space to celebrate the arts can provide unique challenges for those attending the Festival with special needs.

At the Festival, we are able to offer Aira through Salt Lake City, dedicated viewing areas for most stages, and accessible toilet facilities, plus we offer 22 performances with ASL interpreters. For details, please visit our web accessible page at uaf.org/access.

Also, our partners Art Access have a booth at the Festival located directly east of the City & County Building. We encourage everyone to visit them to find out how they increase accessibility in the arts through opportunities for artists with disabilities and training for cultural organizations.

Heads Up, Festival-Goers! For your safety and enjoyment, here’s a quick list of what to leave at home:

🚫 No outside food or drinks (except factory sealed water bottles). Bring an empty reusable bottle to fill at our water stations!
🚫 All bags & containers are subject to search. Stay cool and cooperate with our friendly staff.
🚫 No pets allowed, except for service dogs. Check our Accessibility Guide for details.
🚫 No bicycles inside—park them at our secure Bike Lot on 400 South.
🚫 Leave the skates and skateboards at home.
🚫 No fliers, handbills, or soliciting. Enjoy the art, not the ads!
🚫 Absolutely no weapons. Keep it safe and fun for everyone.

✍️ Evan Van Leuven: our 2x UAF Youth Individual Poetry Slam Champion (2022/2023) and will be returning this year to defend the title.
✍️ Sammi Walker: the Director of the award winning Salt City Slam, member of The Butterfly Effect Poetry Slam Team and one of the top internationally ranked Poets in the world.
✍️ Zachary Kluckman: our 2023 UAF Individual Poetry Slam Champion and the Director of the Chicharra Poetry Slam Festival in Albuquerque, NM.
✍️ Ms.AyeVee: the Director of Las Vegas based poetry organization, Beyond the Neon Poetry, a Ted Talks speaker and has been the UAF Literary Arts Coordinator for the past 3 years.

It's Festival Week! Here's what you need to know👇 👇

When: June 28-30, 2024
Where: Library Square, 200 E 400 S, Salt Lake City
Hours: Noon-11pm
What: Concerts, performances, artist marketplace, film festival, poetry slam, kids hands-on projects, food, drink, and so much more!

Festival Box Office Entrances:
🎟️ Library Arch Main Entrance - located mid-block on 400 South between 200 East and 300 East. (this is the main Festival entrance, and it is closest to the TRAX line and underground parking)
🎟️ The Park Entrance - located on the corner of 500 South and 300 East. (this entrance is perfect for large groups visiting the Festival and those with special needs)
🎟️ City & County Entrance (South) - located mid-block between 200 East and State Street on 500 South (south side of the City & County Bldg), next to the Art Yard, Toddler Zone and Face Painting areas.

Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company was founded in 1964 by two Utah women, Joan Woodbury and Shirley Ririe and is Utah's most established institution for contemporary dance. You can watch this distinguished dance company perform plus with ChitraKaavya Dance Academy, SALT Contemporary Dance, and 1520 Arts on the Festival Stage at the Utah Arts Festival on Sunday, June 30th.
