The Story of work.shop and Flying Squid Comedy.✍️

Kelly started teaching one improv class a week when work.shop was Nimbl (owned by Laura Hoffman, Maryn Whitmore,and Lisa Yaconelli). Then the pandemic hit and Nimbl dissolved and work.shop was created (Lisa Yaconelli). Kelly started teaching again. One class for 6 weeks. 🙋‍♂️Then he scheduled 2 classes.🙋‍♂️🙋🏾 Then another and another and then Friday night weekly comedy shows, a comedy improv festival, and Flying Squid events like Improm and improv jams. 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋🏾🙋‍♀️🙋🏾🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️It's been so exciting to watch Kelly take advantage of what this space is all about. work.shop has a mission. Provide an accessible, affordable, clean, big, space so creative people can afford to rehearse, teach, and perform AND make money doing it. And this is why...because if you provide a space for creatives to start working on their ideas they can grow in to something bigger and better for the community and Athens. So now🎉....Flying Squid Comedy is moving in to their own space. 150 Fritz Mar Lane. 🎭🤡Next door to Jittery Joes Roaster. 👏👏 Follow them and watch them continue to grow. They will be doing a gofundme soon so help them get their space set up 100%. I'm sad to see them go (just around the corner) - Flying Squid Comedy has a very diverse &fun community of playful, smart, and creative people and their presence will be missed. Ecstatic Dance this weekend!!

Join me and the team on Saturday, September 21st for our next ceremony from 1-3pm!

This is a chance for you to move and express yourself to music in a sober and welcoming space. During the ceremony, you will move and groove to music that builds in tempo and energy. After the ceremony, we invite you to lay down for a relaxing sound bath to calm your mind and body.

Cal Clements (YT-500) will be leading Morning Yoga classes. The main focus will be linking breath to movement, as well as flexibility, strength building, and some chanting.
