Moscow 57 is a new Russian Central Asian restaurant from a New Yorker’s perspective with live music. The restaurant features a mix of live blues, folk, world music and jazz nightly. Moscow 57 was started several years ago by Ellen Kaye and her partner Seth Goldman as a hospitality and catering company. Ellen has a long history in the restaurant business. Ellen’s parents, Faith Stewart-Gordon and S

idney Kaye, owned the Russian Tea Room from 1947 to 1996. ”The Lower East Side brings us back to where my grandfather Jacob Kalmanowitz started out as a butcher before going on to become a Midtown restaurateur in the early 1900s,” Ms. Moscow 57 Entertaining, the sister company to Moscow 57, is developing projects for film, television and theater. Its music company produces podcasts, live performances, recordings and videos. Moscow 57’s first CD releases have already garnered national radio airplay. The videos can be seen on the Moscow57Entertaining YouTube channel. For the past two years, Moscow 57 has been creating M57 Urban Salons, evenings of music, food and digital visual art displays in Harlem, Chelsea, the Upper East Side, Governors Island, Bridgehampton, and Connecticut and is making New Orleans a home away from home. Ellen runs the operation with her partners, Seth Goldman, a chef who graduated from the International Culinary Center, and Ethan Fein, the company’s music director and producer. Moscow 57 brick-and-mortar is a 40-seat red-lacquered restaurant, with a menu that combines Russian classics like Borscht and Blini along with Central Asian and Georgian specialties, including Chicken Chakhobili and Sour Cherry Rice. They plan to roll out brunch, lunch, and tea service shortly and then move to a seven days a week operation. The menu will feature Zakuski (Russian tapas), served throughout the day. The Moscow 57 Team has a commitment to giving back to our community. A portion of the proceeds of many of our events is donated to some of our favorite not-for-profit organizations, including The New York Women’s Foundation, The New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation, Holiday House NYC and The Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation. https://moscow57blog.wordpress.com/
